you have to feel for the guy, he made a dumb@ss mistake that anyone could make if they got distracted at the wrong time and didnt check things over before putting it all back, but some of the replies are funny.

we have all done stupid things, but not to this extent. I once left a socket next to a rocker cover. Thought about it when I got home from work, lift the bonnet & was surprised it was still there, so I went to pick up up. I dont think my finger prints have recovered yet

Doing some work on my brother in laws XC Falcon with a 4.1 Crossflow. I'd taken the air cleaner off, and left the two studs sticking up on the top of the carby.
Took it for a drive around the block, came back, motor was making funny noises. Odd. Looked around, and finally noticed one of the studs was missing...
It had made it all the way down into number six cylinder somehow, hammering the top of the piston, bending the inlet valve, and scoring the bore.

Not sure what Ford made those studs out of, but space age tungsten steel sprung to mind when I saw the damage after we lifted the head...

Pretty much sounds like the sort of stupid clumsy move I'd pull off.

I don't know how anyone could leave the towels in there. It won't clean them any better by leaving them in there.

OUCH.
I'll admit I've done similar things.
I don't think my pride has recovered yet...
