Default AU Questions

Hi AU Peeps...

Below are the links to two vehicles I am considering enquiring about. Car will be used a daily.

Please comment on which is the better deal, what to look for, etc etc...I'm thinking the Ghia may be the better deal, but it is a series 1 which puts me off a tad.

My dad used to own a 98 AU Forte with a 5L so I know a little about them.

I went through this about 6 months ago and there were some really good deals out there if you look - all the good deals were repaired writeoffs. So check the history before you even look.

My advise is to get the lowest mileage, highest series that you can afford and if you need accessories like LPG. mags, spoiler ect... make sure the car you buy has it as it costs money to add these things later.

For around 6K (or less) you should be able to pick up a low mileage series 3 with some extra goodies.

I agree with antwon the ghia seems to be a series 2 or at least it has a series 2 cluster. funny thing is it has a series 1 belt cover ( they did away with these in series 2) I would check the build date.
on face value the ghia looks the better car If you can tollerate the colour

The Ghia is indeed a AUII Ghia 02/05/2000 and in my opinion a better buy than the Futura. Both are right at the extreme range of prices but the one thing that makes me wonder is the first sentence of the Futura...
ALL STOCK ARE UN EFFECTED BY FLOOD WATER FREE DELIVERY IN QLD
To me that could mean that it was indeed in a flooded area but suffered no damage?

It has a series 2 dash, grille, wheels and badging.

Also there's nothing wrong with AU1's! Well there is, but they're still good cars, especially with the 5L.

Nothing wrong with an AU1 or 1.5 - look for a clean, low k unit and give the brakes an overhaul or later series upgrade.

Drop me a PM and take my AU1.5 Ghia with factory Tickford options for a spin if you like - not for sale but will give you an idea if the extra fruit in a Ghia is what you are looking for.

got to say it the S1 brakes are terrible. My partner has a S1 ane My XR is a S3 the difference in braking is quite obvious

A series 2 on in an au will get some worthwhile extras over a series 1. Most here will vouch for that. But if u are considering a commodore I would be only going for the v8 versions. If a 6 is what u are after then stick with fords.
