On the news it has just been announced that NT are removing the 130 limits and going back to open zones.
What is your first thought: P.S. I made this up.... Last edited by flappist; 04-06-2011 at 09:33 PM. |

Damnit flappist you got me excited for a second!
How foolish can i be I should know by now that It'll never happen. Oh well, anything over 130kmph would have the diesel revving very hard so it doesnt really matter in personal matters as i wouldnt push it. But it could possibly mean the end of fatigue on that stretch which is very good. Damn long thoughts...

My first thought would be that you wouldnt catch me dead in the NT. No offense to anyone who likes/lives the NT.
Other than that, option 2 would be the most logical course of action. However I think only the beer would prevail, as our dear government is not known for doing anything remotely sensible. |

Start a thread on AFF complaining about Ford
Worth starting a thread about how Ford are falling behind on development of 400+km/h cars and how they need to hurry up before Holden captures the market.

The first speeding ticket I ever got was in the NT. It was a section of highway between Katherine and Darwin that was lowered from the open limit to 100km/h.
Needless to say, I was doing more than I was allowed too. When questioned by the local constabulary as to why I was doing the speed I was, I mearly explained why. "I live in W.A. and the only time I can go faster than the W.A. limit of 110km/h is when I cross the border." He agreed to a certain point, but still fined me nevertheless, which I was willing to go and pay as soon as I reached Darwin. This is the only time I have ever been fined or caught exceeding any speed limit anywhere. The open roads of the Northern Territory are a great place to explore the upper echelons of one's vehicle. Well.............they used to be. Until someone in a high place decided otherwise.....................

Didn't vote as I would be happy that some common sense came about in this cotton wrapped country of ours.

I am so glad that almost everyone saw this thread for what it is:
A bit of fun to highlight that this is a car forum and most of us ACTUALLY like cars and driving and would take any opportunity to enjoy something a bit different. I am somewhat dismayed at the increasing number of negative threads and anti "fun in a car" biased rants. As a side issue I have managed to borrow a Highway Patrol car, bike and paddy wagon (and several large gentlemen in blue) so on a date in the not too distant future who would like to have their piccy taken being arrested in handcuffs for hooning? Only cost you a $5 donation to Variety (or as much as you wish to donate) |
