Melbourne, Australia, 06 June, 2011
Ford Australia today announced Manufacturer's List Pricing for the latest additions to the MC Mondeo range, which will be powered by the Ford Motor Company's patented high-efficiency EcoBoost engine technology. Mondeo will spearhead the local launch of this new generation, high-performance yet fuel-saving engine technology, which uses direct injection and turbocharging to deliver more power and performance from a lower displacement power-plant, while still delivering impressive fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions. “Our new family of Ford EcoBoost petrol engines, which are being rolled out around the globe, represent a key element of Ford Motor Company's global 'Blueprint for Sustainability',” Bob Graziano, President & CEO, Ford Australia said. “We believe that these engines will provide customers with a genuinely attractive alternative to diesel or hybrid power units, delivering highly competitive fuel economy and cost-of-ownership, along with the responsive performance and wide rev range that have made petrol engines the favoured choice for so many drivers.” On sale in July, the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine will be available on Mondeo Zetec and Titanium hatch models, replacing the previous 2.3-litre Duratec petrol engine. MC Mondeo range * This is the manufacturer's list price for the vehicle only. A number of other components, including a dealer delivery fee, stamp duty, registration, compulsory third party (CTP) insurance and other statutory charges may be payable by a customer in relation to the purchase of this vehicle. As a manufacturer, Ford is not able to quantify the amount of these charges as they vary depending on a range of factors and individual circumstances, including the Ford Dealer the customer purchases the vehicle from, the State or Territory where that customer purchases the vehicle and the customer's age, driving record and other personal factors. The final transaction price for the vehicle will be as negotiated by the customer with their chosen Ford Dealer. 1 All performance data measured using 95 RON fuel 2 Figures obtained from controlled tests using ADR 81/02. Actual fuel consumption and emissions will depend on many factors including driving habits, prevailing conditions and your vehicle's equipment, condition and use.

Well based on the CarAdvice article http://www.caradvice.com.au/121983/2...ices-revealed/
The fuel economy is not as impressive as I thought it would be, 8.0ltr/100km, this is considering the Mondeo is lighter than the Falcon, has less power than what the new Falcon will probably have, uses a front wheel drive configuration, and is probably more aerodynamic and has skinnier tyres … hmmm makes me suspicious about the economy figures Ford was claiming for the EcoBoost Falcon before. it’s also interesting to note that the Falcons fuel consumption has been revised to 9.0ltr/100km in this article. |

looks like it comes at about a $2000 premium over the existing petrol engine, but still about $2000 under the diesel.
i wonder if this gives and indication as to how they'll price the ecoboost falcon. it would seem it will be dearer than the I6. |
