Hi all,
I am moving to SA soon and will be looking to buy myself a bit of a project car. I was wondering where is the best place to search for cars in SA. There is not alot of carsales.com and I was wondering if they have a trading post equivilent or something which is a really popular place to advertise so that I can start shopping. Also what is the go with owning, registering and driving LHD cars in SA? |

LHD cars can only be registered on historic registration which is quite strict on the car being stock, more than ~30 years old and only used for a certain number of days per year.

A good percentage of drivers struggle to drive correctly now. Imagine if they all suddenly had to drive on the wrong side of the road! They wouldn't be able to handle it. |

I thought that you could register a LHD car under normal rego (ie. not club rego) if the vehicle is more than 30 years old?
This then allows you to drive anytime and you are not limited to the number of trips?

Nope, as per the link I posted above. Any LHD car manufactured pre-1974.

In a previous life when I was still a Kiwi there was a Fiat 124 sports convertible. Pinnafarina design. There was 4 in NZ but mine was only European version other 3 were American.
Left hand drive was fun except when wanting to pass another vehicle, good god that was scary, here we just slip the nose out till we see the road ahead in those days the passenger (usually bird with short skirt ) had to give the all clear. Convertible again Yes Sir, LHD baah baaah
