Will Falcon reach 2,000 sales now EcoLPI has been on sale for a full month?

A week of shutdown at the end of September might have impacted deliveries in October, so we'll wait and see.

The Holden unit of GM took 12.0 percent of the market in October, while Hyundai jumped to third spot with 8.8 percent. Mazda followed with 8.2 percent, pipping Ford with 8.1 percent.

I agree, people who arent really into cars have no idea, even people who are car enthusiats, but not neccessarily ford ones dont know. That only leaves people who are into cars and ford. Needs to get out there more.

This really suprises me as LPG was supposed to be 30% of Falcon sales and its been on sale for 2 months now. Surely with all the pent-up demand from months and months of not having LPG it would be firing along. I assume supplier issues are at hand.

LPG has not been on sale for 2 months... Dealers have only been getting proper stock for the last 5 weeks, and of that the stock that is coming through is pretty ordinary, e.g. XT's that no one wants. There has also been a hold up at the factory end with parts for the LPI cars...

Ford have only been building XR6 petrols and a handful of gas XT's and commercial utes. Once they start rolling out big numbers of XR6, G6 & G6E LPI we will see some changes.

Plus everyones holding off for FGII, either to save on FGI or to get the later car.

The one that worries me now is the Territory, theres plenty of stock out there now and they seem to have dropped back down... They were doing between 900 - 1100 with SYII, 1200 with SZ is pretty poor if you ask me.

The only LPIs I have been seeing are XR6 and G6E, but maybe the others are out on the road. Seen quite a few utes (only assuming they are LPI by the newness of the rego number. Their ute sales would be pretty good I would imagine.

They have built a few, but only a Handful.

G6E is the hardest to get, and will be very popular I feel, alot of Silver Service taxi operators will be taking them.

Yeah but its still doing well in that it is the biggest selling SUV. They have started advertising petrol TX RWD for 39990 driveaway which is a lot of car for the money.

It would be good to see a few more variants come out, like a XR or SR with slightly sportier looks and another more offroad based version.. yeah I know the Territory is a family SUV but I think its capability means they can broaden its target market a bit to people outside mums and dads.

yes and no... All the guys that went and bought Caprices when they could no longer buy Fairlanes and were not approved to buy G6E's rave about how good the Statesman / Caprices are... I've got one on the books that said he would never go back to Fords simply because the Holdens need less maintenance... His first one just shat a gearbox at 380 kay, where as the Fairlanes were doing them at anywhere between 180 - 230 and killing diffs before then.

Don’t want to sound all doom/gloom but looking at the Fords Australian built cars (Falcon / Territory) I can only see a negative trend:

Territory: while it had two great months when first launched (absolutely expected from any new model launch) its sales numbers have been slowly sliding since … with more competition releases next year I don’t see a reason why the Territory numbers would suddenly go massively up … they are more likely to settle at the slightly higher than SY2 levels.

Falcon: sales numbers have been slowly sliding downwards the whole year. Ford tried limited edition models but they have not helped to reverse the sliding trend, best they managed was to cushions the sales decline. Now the EcoLPI has been launched but the sales are still sliding down, people have been expecting massive fleet numbers but that has not happened yet, maybe suppliers issues are really to blame, I guess the next month or two we paint a clearer picture.

As for FG Mark2, I do not personally think it will change much, more likely just a little. Ford was already selling the “50 years” limited models with all that extra luxury included (colour screens, bigger wheels, exterior improvements …) and the sales did not jump. With FG2 RRP prices being higher that expected, I cannot personally see a reverse in the trend.

The Focus is too expensive. I'm also a bit disappointed by it's interiors size. It's far too small for a car of it's class. It's like an inbetween Fiesta and Mazda 3 size when it should be Mazda 3 size.

Looking at the Camry number, maybe I4 might just save the Falcon? 2,700 & not that far of being the best selling local model either..

Hopefully they fix the rear end look of Falcon with FG2, because the tail lights are awful.

They are the major let down on how the car looks overall, which is great until you get a rear on view.

If you add in Aurion 611, it was the best selling local car.

October was a low production month. Down days, the 11 day shutdown at end of September/start of October plus only building cars to fill orders kept numbers down.

November is the month to get a gauge on how Ford is travelling, production is back to full, stocks are cleared out with no down days and just the 2 days off for Melbourne cup, so there are no excuses.

Focus and Ranger are suffering because Ford can't get enough stock, especially Focus, Ranger now has the shutdown due to the floods to deal with too. Ford really needed Focus to fire but they knew they weren't going to get much stock out of Europe and Thai built models are still at least 6-9 months away. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, these are the 2 most important imported Fords and they can't get what they need.

Dash, here's the difference.
SYII - most of the sales were RWD I-6 petrol, AWD +ZF kinda backfired on Ford...
SZ - the Majority (80%) are now diesel and carry premium price at the moment,
TX AWD diesel is around $54K on the road when once upon a time Terry was all
about SR and $36,990 drive away...

Territory sales is kinda like like adding 1200 G6Es & G6ETs to the mix, it's that big of a lift...

Read that as: "NO EXCESS STOCK" coming up to FGII launch. I doubt that we'll
see any serious high volume discounting between now and the end of the year
