An interesting little tid bit came about at our prestart this morning , bma bhp billiton ... they are forceing upon all the local mines to make our light vehicles " occupant safe sooo - all our vehicles are to be replaced with vehicles that dont require rops ( roll over protection ) to provide less intrusion in the vehicle , and less change to a vehicles dynamics .
So ranger was the key vehicle raised to replace all utes / wagons extra .now in house / on site we have hundreds of cruisers /patrols / prados/hiluxs etc etc....all to go .With all the boom etc rollovers are becoming more common and if you have drivin a car with full rops , you would know how bad they drive . dont know all the details and not sure if its a government push ( we had it with cruiser utes ...only 1 airbag ...2 years later cruiser has 2 as they lost all our business)...but it will shake up safety on all these vehicles if it becomes law - or site required . Ranger i am assumeing ( with zero research) has 5 star , so a big winfall if it all comes about for ford ...maybe we should grab ranger for aus ,might just be a good excuse if numbers go through the roof ? just thought i would put it out there if anyone else is going this route , got my attention anyway . ( these rangers wanna be good cause we are gunna give em hell )looking forward to it though

Yep, Ranger's are 5 star ANCAP rated, and they have rollover mitagation as part of the stability control too I think.

Great coup for Ford.
Although I imagine the new Colorado should also be five stars when its released mid year or earlier. Its not Government thats the reason, its the insurance companies that force this on businesses. Ive said a few times that the Ranger will be the best selling Ford by far by the end of 2012 (thats if they can get a good steady supply)

Do the AU market PX Rangers come from Thailand or South Africa?

Real shot in the arm for ford , going to hurt a lot of other makes .if they prove themselves then it could be a good turn around ....hard to beat the old patrol / cruiser toughness though . its a huge thing regardless of who is making the push ...and im over the lack of room internal roll cages give you .will definately add more as it comes to light ... light dualcabs have never been up to the abuse of 24/7 so very interested in their durability ...still it can be only a good thing if insurance companies are pushing for safer vehicles ...
