I hope to god they do...might inject a little excitment and variety into that endless procession of Commodores and Falcons...

I like the comment: "We want to encourage new manufacturers to be with us," former champion and current V8 Supercar commission chairman Mark Skaife said.

...little bit different to the maniacal response several years back when Toyota expressed interest and everyone was bluntly told that they'd built the formula from the ground up and weren't having any blow-ins stealing thier thunder and riding on thier coattails...

...in plain english, they were afraid of having their asses handed to them by opposition forces using the black arts of modern technology instead of pushrod V8's like happened with the Godzilla Skylines...that whole era gave the V8 honchos a definite scare, and they didn't want to see it happen again.

Let's hope they bring in more players!

Another body shape to go around the track with the rest of the generic, control built taxi's and budget built family cars

You do know the yawn fests rules are so heavily regulated that if they use pushrods or ohc it won't make a difference. A 5.0 ohv pushing out a reliable 650 hp is nothing to sneeze at anyway.
Chrysler will be the case of same shyte different body style. Bring back group A.

If you've read the concept of the new series - they have designed it for new manufacturers to join...

Toyota / Chrysler were targets, and anyone else who wants to have a run...

It makes me smile that people who loved the racing in the 70s and 80s won't embrace the formats now... The reason that there is a new concept for the future is because they've run V8 Supercars for such a long time...

Nostalgia is great, but it's a bit like when TV shows get revived... They never work... It's all good for the first couple of episodes... but at the end of the day it's never as good as the original...

Give it a shot, and if you don't enjoy it watch the Muscle Car Masters...

Yeah, it's getting more like NASCAR.

That's why I want to see Bathurst this year, before the rules change.

Great now I have to look out for a Chrysler badge as well, so I know which brand is winning. As at the moment there not much difference in the cars appearance.

Arrghh! My posts keep not going through, and then showing up multiple times.

This time I was very careful and re-checked the topic from the forum menu and my post wasn't there. Now I see it three times.

And how do you delete via the "Delete/Edit" button? Once I click on it I don't see any option to delete.

Variety is why I like the American Le Mans Series. You get four-, six-, eight-, ten-, and twelve-cylinder front, mid, and rear engines running gasoline and diesel on the track at the same time, and some of them have turbos.

...and the problem would be...?

Oh wait...the problem would be that the yobbos and bogans might see something without eight cylinders win a race! Arrrggghhh! We can't have that!!!

Bring back the old Bathurst...lots of vclases of car from small to large, of all cylinder numbers and capacities all sharing the track at once, you never know who's going to win, or what upsets will happen to force big changes in the leader pack, or when some underdog will put up a huge fight to end up finishing fifth or sixth in some smaller car but who wins the audiences heart.
*Sigh*...those were the good old days...I suppose there'd be a lot of fans now who've never seen anything but the FalcoDore Parade that it's become now...

Yes the Le Mans series is sweet!

As for Chrysler, well they have a new 300 out soon so whats a really good way to get some free advertising...answer = mention you are thinking about entering a race series dear to your average aussie.

Holden do it all the time, they are like that annoying kid who thinks out loud and doesnt really do anything.

But all for more brands in the series.

Bathurst 12 hour have been doing precisely that over the last few years, they have been trying to get interest with more entrants and $ponsors by tweaking the classes to no avail. Seems no one cares, if the Mitsubishi evos have been the fastest affordable cars around the Bathurst for 12 hours, before that it used to be the rx7's. Now they are going the GT3 route to gain the interest and how standard are they? and and how many people can afford those road going rockets?

I reckon Chrysler needs to earn some cred in this part of the world and no better way than to step up to the plate and commit to a race program, talk is cheap, lets see if they put their money where their mouth is.

Loving all the haters comments! It's easy to see who actually watches the V8's regulary, and who keeps up with the news!

The cars still look like their road going conterparts, and they won't look any different to the current spec race cars. but they will be a better package to race with.

I hope chrysler do join, if it means a couple less holdens on the grid i'm all for it

Its not about hating anything, its about the cars being that lineball these days. The only way a brand wins is to buy off the best drivers(888)etc.just miss the old days when they raced, what you could buy off the showroom floor.
Ford would beat Holden,Holden would go back to the drawing board(a9x)etc.

I bet 888 will cross over to Chrysler. Great that means 888 will be beating Holdens and Fords driving Chryslers.

BTW I know the series doesn't actually run Holdens and Fords, but like someone said they atleast resemble the road cars.. unlike Nascar.

For all the nostalgics wanting to relive the glory days of Bathurst, isnt having chrysler involved a good thing? Remember the days of GT, GTS and Charger?
Lets get BMW involved too with the new Mini!

I find it funny that people keep on saying that the racecar's are not Ford's/Holden's and are trying to distance them from the make in saying so (which they may be sort of right as you can not go to your local dealer and buy one) but in saying that we need to ask the question...

Why do we continually talk about and follow the Ford's and despise the other make so much or vice versa ?

Because like you say Ryan they resemble the brand and image is everything.

Imagine if Nissan or Toyota were allowed to join the series and the technology they can bring to it, they would leave both Holden and Ford for dead. Just look at what happened when Nissan were allowed to compete with the GT-R, it was Godzilla first, daylight second, the Sierra Cosworth third and the Holden's were still circulating on the track after the other teams had already packed their transporters and left the circuit.

The fact is that they changed the rules so that only Ford and Holdern V8's would be the main racing in this country because of being slaughered by the GTR! (who would have thought the scars of the Nissan Skyline GTR woulr run so deep to this day lol) If this didn't happen, who knows what advancement both Ford and Holden would have made over the years just to stay competitive? Maybe we would be all driving around in way more advanced holden and fords on the street as a result?

V8 what? Supercars? WTF is that. Got so bored by it how many years ago now it's simply "who cares" to most people these days. I don't understand why Channel 7910??? even broadcast it - don't they realise no-one is watching?
