Let's get some content sharing and things going on...

What is the aim of the fan page? All things Ford? Or just members' rides?

Can we post even pics etc?

Sorry to sound negative, but it's a sad day when an Internet forum need to start putting content on face plant!
What's wrong with what is already here?

Social networking is here to stay....We may not all like it...but that is how it is.

Good to see AFF on Bookface

I somewhat agree with you, I don't have a facebook account and all things Ford I have here at AFF and I ring or visit my friends to stay in touch.
Suppose we all like and look for something different.

Here here, I don't have any of those so called "social networking" accounts, I think they're dangerous and anti social in so many ways. They're a breeding ground for nut cases and chicken ***** bullies that don't have the balls to go face to face with people among other things and I'll be doing my utmost to keep my 5 & 7yr olds away from them for as long as possible. If I want to talk to someone I'll pick up the phone or go see them thanks.

You couldn't be more wrong. It no more dangerous than posting a pic of your car on this site with the number plates showing, and having a full description of your car in your signature.

But i think its a good thing, get some more members onto this forum.

I had facebook. Wasted my time looking to see if anyone liked me.
Thought I would stick to calling my 8 friends out of the 200 I was supposed to have.
It really does create an anti social society.

Fixed it for you.

My gosh, I think I've heard this before.... oh I have!
The internet (as a whole) was thought to be bad for many reasons.
Mobile phones - Same as.
And lets not forget;
The Computer - for many, the computer was seen to be the devil and would cause al sorts of terror and death. (it has in ways - but for the most part, not)

You get what you want from tech.
If you want to be an anti-social prat, you will be, failbook or not.

If you want to use it as a device to promote yourself or a product, locate long lost friends etc; you can.

Chances are, the page will attract more people to the forums, some will stay, some won't. - All in all as long as it is policed well (like the forums) it will be great.

^what he said. Personally I use facebook numerous times daily to keep in touch with friends/family interstate and abroad. In my case its almost totally removed my need for email and blogging. It'll never replace forums, too unstructured for a start.

What about internet gaming? That is just as anti-social as this forum, facefail and twitbook combined.

Posting a pic on here with your car and it's rego is nothing compared to the information you and your friends leak about yourself on faceplant.

Yes, I have been there done that, I work senior management in the online industry!

You only "leak" what you put up. If you are smart with privacy settings and who you are friends with you cannot go wrong. If you go wrong, it is your own fault. IMHO

I understand your concern. But do you know that with Facebook you can make your account invisible to outsiders? You should not have any concerns about Facebook if you know how to use the site by making sure that all privacy settings are all set to "friends only".

I've come across so many vulnerable user accounts of people who have no idea who could be watching them, especially the teenage girls who have over 500 friends with their photo privacy settings open containing pics of them doing seductive poses wearing bikinis. Those are the kind of users their parents should know and be concerned about. But if you someone who's smart by keeping privacy settings tight, not revealing details about where you are and don't accept friend request from people you don't know, you should be fine

Yep, just turn all the privacy settings, and be careful who you let see you profile, safe as houses................You have no idea, do you!

Anyway, i have said enough, I'm sure this will be great for the forum and for those interested.
