Depends on your driving history. If i were you I would ring around to get the best price. Alot of competition out there at the moment so you have the potential to save a bit of cash. Call around and see how you go. It will take you a bit of time giving the same detail to the different crowds, but it will pay off in the end.

Keep ringing around young fella.
It going to be expensive, but hopefully you will get a more reasonable quote.
Cant you insure it through your parents to save some dollars??

Just say they are the primary driver and you only drive the car now and again. You would be on the policy but pay the lower premium as long as your parents have a good rating.

Unfortunately these two statements (and possibly your postcode) means that you will be paying through the nose for the next 6 years or so.

Jump on the net and get a few online quotes.

You might find that RACQ is for Qld residents only.

No, but you get a 12c discount once a month on top of your 4c one, along with discount roadside assistance (about $75 a year through Mondial)

I went through the same thing mate. Here in vic i couldnt find anything for under $2,000 comprehensive insurance. Got quotes through 10 different insurance companies but it was still fairly costly. Goodluck!

DON'T GO AAMI!!!!!!!!!!!

I made that mistake. To claim, you drop your car off at a repair assessment centre and then leave it, they send it out to their choice of repairer.

Twice I have repaired my car. Twice they failed to pass on all the damage information to the repairer.

Twice I have had to get the car re-repaired.

Needless to say, bye AAMI!

All insurance companies are the same, they all hate to pay out

You need to read the PDS for all of them as some of the cheaper ones cover bugger all, only smashes nothing else at all

+1 to stay away from AAMI. I red somewhere that apparently they tender out the work to the cheapest vendor.
This is not a good thing...

I am insured with Allianz, they have been OK so far. I purchased an XR6 in November last year and it got extensively damaged during the Melbourne Christmas day hail storm. My car was fixed by early February.

A colleague at work had his SS Sportswagon damaged in the same hail storm. He is insured with RACV and is still waiting for his car to be repaired.
