Well, it begins today! Unfortunately, I didn't get in this year and probably just as well as my wife is due with our first child in 3 weeks!
However, my cousin's husband is in it this year and driving a 1984 Mercedes 300 SEL. It was in a paddock for 5 years with the windows down and it still lives! They drove over from Adelaide to Melbourne yesterday with only one repair needed! Should anybody care to follow their progress, they are posting on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002877741717 If you want to donate towards their team, then here is the place to do it: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/boat_anchors At time of posting, they've raised about $12,000 to go to the Cancel Council! More info on the Sh#tbox Rally can be found here: http://www.shitboxrally.com.au/ Anybody else here on AFF in it this year?

I am sure you meant Cancer Council, but Cancel Cancer would be a great name for this Foundation, wouldn't it! Great to see your Family involved. Does this rally always run the same route at all? I envisage this might interest me for 2013.

What a shame it didn't get any further.
I did the Endeavour Rally once in a 68 Galaxie 390. |

4 of my work collegues are on it ATM.
3 of them in a little Corolla and one other in a hilux with some of his mates. 2 of the 3 in the 'rolla are mechanics, so I'm sure they'll make it... Looks like fun..

What exactly is a rally? The first to get to the destination wins the rally?

It's not a race, more of a cruise, but from Melbourne to Cairns for this year. The rally might be more in reference to the terrain they have to cover.

Funnily enough, another Merc! No good photos of it yet though, only a crappy night shot taken with a camera on a phone.

Not looking good! Mercedes #2 has now broken down. Musr have been a bad choice for the rally!
Am awaiting to hear if it lives overnight or not.

The second Merc didn't live and they ended up hitchhiking with other people throughout the rally. It's now over and they're relaxing in Cairns. Congrats to all that participated!
