I just got 8 new tyres for some new 12 wheels im building up(3 sets), had the 8 tyres done at a local bob jane as i know the owner.
First i done 4 wheels, took them home(about 5kms) and when i was puling them out the car all these stick on wheel weights on ll 4 wheels had just fallen off . I looked at where they were placed and it wasnt on a flat surface So second trip i had to bring back thses wheels for re-balancing and was getting 4 more wheels done also.I complained about the issue and used wax and greese remover to clean the 4 new wheels so it wouldnt happen again. The 4 wheels were rebalanced but the 4 wheels i had just ot done, got home and bam 2 wheels had lost the weights again, just fallen off. So at this point i was very annoyed and thought i would try a different place for the final 4 wheels ,so i went to adelaide for the best tyre place i SA. Came home very happy but when i went to check the weights, one basically just fell off on my hand and was not stuck own hard, infact some were not even put on a flat surface so i had to move them. I am primarily talking about the stick on weights used on mag wheels, the glue in them seems so crap its not funny.Im starting to think these places want them to fall off so you will need more repairs in the long run.Consipracy theory!! Its not machine oil on wheels its the crap glue on the weights and where these twits place them on the rim!. Has anyone else had any major issues with wheel weights and them always falling off??. |

No, never had then fall of...
I'm thinking.... are they designed to be used as soon as they are glued on?? All the weights I have had stuck on were a top notch job, surface cleaned and prepped well etc. I'm wondering if the centrifugal spinning effect on the weights is part of the curing process for whatever glue they use??? Were they in the car lor long? Did the temps get so hot that the glue softened and gave way?? Seems very odd.

they should clean the oil and grease and crap off the wheels, you should not have to do it, poor training or laziness by the tyre fella imo.
but who knows how old their weights are , they probably bought wheel weights in bulk years ago and glue is tired before it starts, it might be worth a word to the manager, he may look after you down the road for letting him know, personally i think if the sticky is good they should stick like **** to a blanket even if it`s not quite flat as long as they are pushed down firmly and the area is clean. If they are all the same type of rim. It more than likely
The rims it self. Never had an issue with the weights. |

Glue could be bad on them. Are you able to post up a pic of the rims you are using?
If it keeps happening you could get them to use duct tape to help hold them on. Also find out if they are just cleaning with some cleaner. As its better for them to use a fine grit sandpaper as well to give it a surface to grip onto |
