The 2013 Ford Fusion is the best-looking mid-size sedan to come along in a generation. Personally, we wouldn't buy the hybrid version (the smaller fourbanger version will get a six-speed and 37 MPG), but if you had to buy a hybrid the now 2.0-liter-equipped Fusion blew out expectations and offers 47 MPG in the city and highway. That sound you're hearing is everyone at Ford furiously making the crossed-arms "suck-it" motion in the direction of Japan. more at link above (mostly toyota bashing)

Well that's the same as 5.0 l/100km in city and mixed highway driving...a really great effort and importantly, it beats Camry Hybrid..

when you put a pic of a mondeo next to it, it does look very similar, but there are subtle differences in the body work, but it does looks quite nice from this angle.

Especially the Plug In Fusion Energi with 40 km range on batteries.
See, Ford can do innovative stuff too and with much better packaging that GM's Volt.. |

47MPG is good, but the real test is, and will always be, $/km
In AUS the winner will always be LPG |

Good write up on the American Fusion range;
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...on_first_test/ So is this supposed to be coming to Australia? Badged as a Fusion or Mondeo? Or Falcon? |

Damn they have done a nice job on those, 2L Ecoboost AWD would be quite a nice drive I imagine.

Im not liking it. The headlight and tailight treatments on these look good, but somehow they have messed up the bit in the middle, looks like a confused hyundai. When Ford starts stealing its design from the koreans something has gone wrong.

I tend to agree. Detailing is good, love the front end, interior looks great. But it just doesn't look great overall IMO First impressions are good, but the more I look at it the less I like it. |

I'm sure any forthcoming ST version would be AWD and available worldwide. Of course we done know what that will look like or when it will happen.

Will there even be an ST version. Ford have not done an ST version of the Mondeo since the ST220 10 or so years ago??
And there isn't really a high performance version of the Fusion either is there? |

Outgoing model has the Fusion sport and given the new model pushing close to the Taurus dimensions, I don't see why the US won't want a performance Fusion.

I dont think we have much need for the AWD system thats in the Fusion anyway - its definitely designed for driving on snow, not for performance or sportiness. 30% of power to the rears in normal driving, with a maximum of 40% I guess it would help curb torque steer but it would still feel like a FWD car. |

The ones they use it such vehicles like the AWD Lambos, Bentley Continental, Nissan GTR, Audi RS4 etc are so much better because they send the majority of the power to the rear, but can send more to the front if needed. The FWD biased stuff like WRX's and older Audi Quattros means plenty of understeer when pushed, unless you really know how to drive around it and go for the slow in fast out approach. Its amusing to see Tiff Needal on 5th Gear hammer some of these cars around the track, the understeer is shocking. I know you can't compare this to the real world but just shows how they end up when really pushed hard. |

Longer hood, taller green house in rear, shorter boot..... 2014 Falcon?
Needs some FPV wheels. Or 19" G6E ones.
