Default AU Sportsman mirror issue

Hey guys, I replaced the drivers side door mirror on my Sportsman today, and it constantly tries to move the mirror in towards the door, and up as high as it will go...After some research, it seems because my car has memory elec seats, I need a specific mirror....Does anyone know if this is definitely the case? And if so, where I can find some?

I don't know about memory specific mirrors but I would have thought the control function is not in the mirror but in the circuit board in the door. It may just be that the memory hasn't been reset or something, have you tried setting the mirror to your preferred position and then pressing the seat memory button so the system remembers the spot?

Try this first:- let the mirror go to whatever it's resting position is then hit memory for 3 seconds to set it - then reposition it to your preferred position and press memory again to reset it and see if that works. If it doesn't then you may be right and there is a memory specific mirror.

Hey guys...I'll keep searching for an LTD mirror, or sportsman mirror.

But yeah, the non memory mirror, doesn't stop moving...if you physically push the glass back down, it just keeps going up - I plugged in a stuffed mirror I have here (One that the glass isn't moving with the motor) and the motor just constantly goes.
Plug the original mirror back in, and works as normal.

The issue with my original mirror is that when I bought the car, someone had put chrome covers on the mirrors, I want to change them back to silver ones (the colour of my car) and the drivers side chrome cover has been urethaned on :( so I couldn't get it off...and in the process of getting trying to get it off, I accidentally caught it on the ground, and snapped the top corner of the bit that sits against the car :(

So I managed to get the rest of the chrome off today, and put the mirror on with the silver covers, and the corner missing - So its working for now...but I am not very happy about the missing corner!!

Cheers for the replies guys

Wow. It's funny this topic has been bought up.

I recently did a full NL Fairlnae dash and loom conversion into my XH xr8 ute. I used the door looms as well, from the NL. I noticed when I move my mirrors, the functions are inverted!! (i.e. moving mirror in toward car, they move out. Move mirror up, it moves down)

Is this becasue the NL mirror electrics are wired differently? I'm assuming yes, as all the plugs on the loom plugged directly in (i never spliced them).

I still have the NL doors & mirrors. Thinking of changing the internals out with one another...

Thoughts?

LOL

Yeah, probably not.

The fact you mention the memory in the mirrors for your AU was making me wonder about a similar type "fairlane only" type setup for NL as well... As the fairlane was full electric as well inc seats etc...

Thought the 'mirror gurus' in here might have a quick answer for us!!

sorry for the hi-jack!! ;)

No probs - But NL Fairlanes didn't have memory seats.
