A 22-YEAR-old man will front court next month over allegations he was clocked driving his car 225km/h on Kwinana Freeway - 125km/h above the speed limit. Police will allege the incident occurred just before 8pm on Sunday on the Kwinana Freeway southbound, near Mundijong Road in Baldivis, about 30km south of Perth. It’s alleged the 22-year-old was clocked by a speed camera on the side of the road in his yellow Ford performance utility doing 225km/h in a 100km/h zone. The driver of the ute, from Falcon, was charged yesterday with reckless driving. His car has also been impounded for 28 days. He will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on Monday.

Change the car he was driving to a Maloo, and this thread would have a very different vibe.

Speed cameras have the potential to cause so many accidents in places like that its not even funny. Cockburn ( Cockburn ?? ) on a freeway Christmas eve morning 2011 ( roadworks as well ).. Kaos, thought I may have to change my clutch from the amount of times I stopped / started over 10 KM, Frustrated people all around, thought someones Christmas may of been a tragic but no, only because some clown decided to set up a Multinova under a overpass.. At leat he got to the speed limit. Was that a smoking bird I threw out the window at the photography expert..... Yeah

Heard a call from a Camera van for a HWP car to do a Patrol on the Logan Motorway as they just had an XR6T fly past at 260kph, all they could see on the image was the last two letters of the numberplate and the XR6 Turbo badge so a bit more than 260 and you'll be right

Pretty silly, but we all make mistakes at some stage of our lives and thank christ no one else was involved. (cue the greenies and the do gooders)
Let's just hope that the individual concerned learns from his "temporary lack of judgement/mistake" 28 days loss of vehicle, the vehicle will be inspected (ripped apart) by the "guys" at Midland and it'll cost a bit to bring it back to original condition by the owner. Live and learn .

TOTAL cost will be well over a grand, (good criminal lawyer + $800/hr) it depends on priors etc, to what extent the judge does him and how the judge "feels" on the day
.

I think the photo is just an example of the camera, not the actual offence.
If people think he will get 6 months your kidding . He will go for 2 years licence suspension plus. The fine will be over a grand. This will not be a normal case. Not many cases go for above 100ks over. I lost my licence for 2 months for doing a 5 second stand still. |
