hmmm not sure sure on the styling. Need to see up close. I do like the current one a lot. Neat and tidy, a sledgehammer in a suit. This one, hmmm front is a little messy. though I think the BMW has more class to it.

It's illegal for the australian motoring media to praise Falcon in any way isn't it?
Or is it because HSV's are so fully hecktic? |

4.5 is a bit off the pace isnt it?... they say that 4.4 for the M5 is off the pace!
Next year they will be down under 3 seconds! Like an Aventator 2.9! Or Veyron at 2.5.. 3 and a half seconds must be quite a rush!! Cant believe family sedans can do that! I want one! |

I agree with you about the styling. I think the current version looks better. I prefer the three pointed star sitting upright on the bonnet.

The article conveniently forgets the various Brabus Bullits, Brabus Rockets and G-Power Hurricanes which do 3.9, 3.2 & 4.2 0-100kmh respectively. MTM do RS6's that can do 3.9 sec 0-100's. All of these tuners are classified as small manufacturers in Germany/Europe.

well ... if you dropped them off a cliff ... in the real world ... well ... they probably still wouldn't do 0-100km/h in 5 seconds. You are right ... LOL

I'd rather this;
it's like they photoshopped an M5 into a hot rod caricature of itself, then decided to build it. Hard to imagine that these cars that weigh nearly two tonnes can perform the way they do. I remember when having 500hp was a big thing. |

The Merc may look better in the flesh. Looks "different" (what my wife says when I buy her something she doesn't like) in the pics.

Probably the Ford RS200. It was a mid engined AWD short wheelbase rally car. Also made in road trim in the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_RS200 Edit: Just saw I was beaten to it.

because its not a holden. I'm starting too really hate the medias bias towards anything good ford does. Australia's fastest accelerating car ever produced but yet HSV get all the prise. aren't these cars performance cars??? if that the case the FPV should be getting praise. not a dirty clubsport!!

Did they forget about the Evo 8 FQ400? It's a 4 door sedan which did 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and a mid 11 sec quarter mile.

I liked the subtle variation between AMG to standard models and I still see this design as a backward step from the W212...still better than BMW but I'm biased. Impressive figures though, 4matic needs to be adapted for RHD as soon as possible. I can't wait for the new Bentley Flying Spur that's coming by the end of the year.

4.5 for an FPV. I guess that is the auto with launch control. Well done Ford.

Anyone have a spare $200k?
It certainly seems that way, it makes sense to compare the times to a local/cheaper car but to not mention the S/C GT in favour of Holdens Homer Simpson speedhole styled Commo seems silly. The media's pro Holden stance would certainly impact sales figures. |

I liked the look of the old model better, but regardless of looks being pinned to the seat is always a good feeling.

It's because the Australian Automotive media is populated by HSV fanbois. Just read Dowlings "Don't hate me" article.

The HSV mention probably has something to do with the fact Holden exports HSV cars so it compares to the merc and bmw etc etc on a world stage (different league yes), what does Ford Australia export around the world? Love em or hate em Holden have done one thing right and that is get their cars out there on a world stage, pretty sad that Ford won't let this happen here considering they do build some worthy cars to be put out there.
