Just heard Steve Fenech (Tech Guy) on the radio, he was falling over himself with praise for Ford & their Aus. R&D.
He said he'd never look at a Ford in the same way again (in a good way). Anyway, here's his write up from his visit to Ford Aus HQ. http://www.techguide.com.au/menu-new...ign-to-reality |

Was shocked that there are only 3 such centres with Melbourne being one of them. Says a lot about what they think of our design/engineering talent.

The guys in the Melbourne centre certainly know their way around a good drive line, they were always held back by low production. |

^^^^ Yes; they always over-achieved (and I mean that in a complimentary way) considering the budgets they had to work with. Some good old engineering nous at Ford Australia!

Elsewhere, Ford has reduced the start-finish time of vehicle projects form four years to three
thanks to Virtual build and virtual crash testing of vehicle designs long before the first prototypes are built. The ability to do that and reliably map and develop frame design is a huge cost and time saving for Ford. That the Geelong Design Centre uses this process should be no surprise and should be a source of great personal pride that our designers and engineers are using Ford's most up to date resources to develop the generation of Vehicles in our region. |

Would love a day or two alone at both the virtual reality centre building a car and the Proving grounds but it would take me years just to learn how to run that program.
Thanks for the link.
