Default FH XR8 with 375kw?

Not sure if this has already been posted. See attached.

Think it looks like top gear magazine.
Interesting if turns out true!

All continuing engine and trans calibrations are carry over from current versions, no 375 Kw anything....

Detail of rear lights is incorrect, think more like Jag XF where upper edge of lens follows rib on boot lid,
front is basically right but more cohesive than CGI looks.

Think about it though, we know that the badge value (335kw) is not the true kw value and Ford deliberately under quoted power figures, so realistically they don't have to change a thing to make the output 375kw. They have to change the badge value regardless. I just wish they did give it an actual increase in power, 20kw even just for that little extra 10th of a second off the 0-100 and the 1/4 times.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

I read somewhere (most likely here) that the gearbox was being improved so maybe a few valuable tenths of a second can be found there.

The FH XR8 could be the performance bargain of the decade.

I wonder if the XR8 will get the R-spec gear?
They could increase power slightly and not detriment the warranty, have any FG GT or GS owners with modded cars noticed problems with their cars?

That, and i'm pretty sure it makes up to 375kw momentarily with the transient overboost function

Forgot about that, it makes that peak power for around 7 seconds from memory?

The GT335 owners would be a little dirty if this is true. Basically kills their resale

I'll believe it when I see it. It would need wider rear rubber than standard.

Wouldn't be much different than when the Miami came out, out-muscling the former GT 315 and GS 302. Progress has to happen.

unfortunately i dont see retail values for existing 335 (GT/GTP) staying up if a 'XR8) has more power. its all in the name

Could well be and people paying full retail for the last of the FPV's could look like wooden ducks if Ford gut all of FPV's kit for their new XR8 at a significantly different price point, something already hinted at by Ford themselves. and yes Ford have officially confirmed the new Falcon will receive the ZFHP28 gearbox which is a significantly updated and quicker shifting unit than the aging ZFHP26 we currently have.

It has a slightly higher torque rating too so maybe we'll see less need for torque reduction programming in between gear changes, something else that could potentially add a bit more spice.

Really when you look at what's coming with the tech updates in the FH and gearbox and know there's probably going to be a materially lower price for an XR8 compared to the final FPV...why would you bother paying anything like full retail for the last FPV...

How dare Ford make a new model more powerful then the one before it, shame on them.
Maybe they should make it 330kw in your eyes to keep all the 335 owner's happy hey,

I read the article from TGA in the supermarket tonight and they said that Ford did test a car with a higher horsepower rating and differentials were a weak link and could potentially cost Ford a fortune in warranty claims so they left it as it is.

Most likely the "Hollywood" intercooled Miami engine, which Prodrive developed and fitted to that blue FG GT. Which they kept after selling their share of FPV back to Ford.

But I'd call BS on the diff claim - if it was that bad, just spec a stronger diff?

Correct. FPV were originally planning to release three power versions of the Miami engine but dropped the most powerful one due to reliability problems.

Correct me if I am wrong but to my way of thinking, an XR8 is mass produced so everything fitted to it is done on the production line. FPV modifications are done separately by a different team elsewhere off the production line.
Thinking about it like that gives you a better impression of what the XR8 can and can't have.

I hope the final product has the same stance as the one in the magazine pic. They really look several kinds of wrong from factory. Look at a standard GT; they look like they're wearing ice skates that are too small for their feet.
