So you have to travel to some hell hole to get a 10k jeep?
Is said 10k Jeep even capable of getting out of this "remote" location? |

You can be pretty sure all 10 of them are gone already.
I'd buy it just to resell it at triple the cost.

SO where do you reckon it is?
Near an old mining town, could be anywhere. Looks flat, but some hills in the background. |

Well these Longitudes retail at 43k... 10k for one of these is an absolute steal
Surely there is some catch to this, it can't just be as simple as driving on tarmac a couple hundred clicks from Alice Springs.... |

No "catch" its just a advertising stunt. 10 Cars sold below cost is hardly a huge expense.

I guess my idea of a "Remote Location" is much harsher and harder to access than Jeep's idea.

Alright doing some google-fu we've come up with in WA:
In NT we have only one in Darwin?
QLD has a lot along the coast:
Then theres a heap along or not far off the coast so I wont count those, is QLD Jeep territory? New South Wales only shows up one - Orange Chrysler Jeep Dodge? Victoria probably wouldn't count but theres heaps around Melbourne which isn't exactly remote lol but there is one in Wangaratta and another near Taralgon. South Australia has a few around Adelaide but two further out in:
So bets on boys which one is it? I reckon it will be in WA and it will be Kalgoorlie or Wonthella Alright boys can we get flights out to these locations or near by lol? Or will we be stooged with it being some multi franchise dealership without Jeep in its name? They couldn't have let it be this easy to scope out? the remote dealership is simply where you pick up the car from and really has nothing to do with the competition
you don't have to find or work out where the dealership is, if you become a 'successful participant' you get offered the chance to purchase one for $10K then they tell you where it is. You must then make your own way, expenses too, to get there. wonder how many will be unable to raise the $10K when requested? |

You must also comprehensively insure it prior to pickup and provide proof of same
so time off work with very short notice, access to $10k cash or finance to that amount, pay comp insurance prior and organise flights at short notice (expensive ones), then fuel and accommodation to get back home So the $10k quickly becomes more like $15k and you end up with a Jeep that has potentially 5000kms on it and probably interstate rego |

Good advertising/marketing inventive and the $10k deal has done its job, without the $10k tag we wouldn't have bothered talking about it on AFF.

"Unorthodox 'Remote Dealership' promotion brings huge spike in buyer interest. (Hint Hint Ford Marketing!!!)
Jeep has attracted big interest around its new 'Remote dealership' promotion. It’s the antithesis of a traditional car promotion: encourage buyers to drive hundreds, even thousands, of kilometres out of their way to the hot and dusty Australian outback – just to pick up their new vehicle. But Jeep’s unorthodox Remote Dealership promotion is translating to huge interest in the off-road brand, culminating in one of its largest buyer responses to a new product. Launched last month, the promotion offers applicants the chance to purchase one of 10 new Cherokee SUVs for $10,000 on the road, a saving of about $40,000. To do so, applicants need to travel to an undisclosed and remote location to pick up their new vehicle. In the 10 days since the ad promotion was launched, more than 40,000 people have registered their interest by downloading the necessary app. “I think it’s a very positive sign that people are highly engaged with this promotion and are interested in the new Jeep Cherokee. We’re very pleased with the response so far,” Fiat Chrysler Group spokeswoman Karla Leach said. Advertisement To register for the promotion, applicants must download the Remote Dealership app before filling out an entry form. The applicant must then call an allocated number and be among the first 10 entrants to call through and register their details. An additional 50 entrants will get through to an alternative participant list. If you read the fine print, applicants must first pay for the vehicle in order to be among the 10 winners. They will then need to drive to the remote location, passing through a series of check points along the way. “At one of the final check points, we’ll reveal the address of the dealership,” Leach said. Entrants will then make their way to the outback location on July 26 for what Jeep says is the world’s most remote dealership. The deal applies to the all-wheel-drive Jeep Longitude V6, which normally costs $39,000 plus on-road costs. The rationale behind the advert was to showcase the Jeep brand’s off-road origins, Leach said. Very little is being given away about the location of the dealership, with online forums suggest it is located near Broken Hill or Coober Pedy." http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/j...702-zstla.html

Have you seen those things?
I'd rather pay 20 grand for a New Grand Cherokee with the same gimmick promotion. |

If applicant must pay $10k to be among the ten winners, does this mean that if 20 people want to win the car, ten people will lose $10k each to fund the prize cars?

While the journey may be a challenge for the lucky 10, the drive home will be a pleasure in the all-new Cherokee. So far 40,000 have registered, lets say 4000 of them will actually be able to raise the cash/finance. 4000 ppl will be trying to ring the Remote Dealer to make a commitment to buy. All at the same time. Anyone know if the APP is free?

See one on the road the other day and gee was it ugly. But for $10K why not and then just sell it. As others have said you will make alot more than $10K unless there is something in the rules that states you need to keep the car for a minimum period

Doesn't matter if it is a $10k Jeep or a $100k Jeep, you will need a tilt tray to get it anywhere. You wouldn't take them off the black top after warranty expires.

Given the size of Australia and how long it takes to get anywhere, this is just a marketing ploy...clever, but I would bet not all the cars are picked up. You'd have to have ready cash and a friend at a nearby airport to get you on a flight with little notice to somewhere nearby and then rent a vehicle to get you to the "dealership". Sounds great...until you read the fine print... |

I think you may need to reread the fine print as you do not need to get there on the day that the location is revealed.
To me, there is nothing outrageous in the fine print if you treat it for what it is - a marketing exercise. |

That's just not true. If you read the instructions and the fine print, you'll see that you have to download the app, and it's counting down to 9am EST next Thursday 10/7. That's when they reveal the location and the phone number. If, after seeing the location, you want to join in, then the first 10 people to call the number will be the 'winners'. They then have until 5pm EST the next day to get to their local Jeep dealer and pay the $10k. They're taking 50 backup names for any of the 10 who 'cool off' in the statutory 3 day period for buying a new car, or don't cough up the $10k on time.
There's also nothing about these 'check points' in the fine print.
