After looking for quite some time we finally purchased a Mitsubishi Lancer GSR hatchback.
We paid $18990 drive away. The car comes with 18" alloys, low profile tyres, 2.4lt engine, auto with paddles, rear camera, body kit & a 5yr warranty. This car has way less road noise than the Mazda 3 which although better looking is very noisy even with ballons for tyres. I still have my FGF6 so all good. |

We got one about 12 months ago for my old man. He might do 8,000kms a year and for that fewer kms he preferred the extra oomph of the 2.4 and didn't mind the poor fuel economy 8.8 l/100kms. A lot of car for the money tho. He payed $19890 for an auto.

Brilliant price. Lots cheaper than what I paid a year ago. They are well equipped and very versatile.

Wow that is cheap, thinking of replacing the MRS car with one of these. Are these Australia wide prices?

I've always thought of Lancers as little girls cars...dunno why, just wouldn't get in one.

Rather narrow minded, from a Magna owner. Most on here would think of them as old people's cars, dunno why.

Thinner paint compared to other cars in its class? Suspension bushing issues are a problem in a hipo RWD Falcon and it's a problem in a FWD Mazda 3. I'm guessing it's your weekend car or garage queen now? Quote:
Pretty ordinary interiors but I'm sure it's not a concern to EVO X drivers.

The brand new Lancer GSR is an auto & metallic silver.
The windscreen wipers adjust speed according to the rain. Re road noise - we drove a normal Mazda 3 & a SP3? Both had huge noise. I only drive the Mitsi occasionally due to my main vehicle being a I Load (painters van) My F6 has always been a weekender/toy 6 yrs old now with only 52k on the odo No garage queen tho as I've been out to the track about 15 times |

it is a good price but it is probably 2014 model of a long running model ( this was designed in 2005) . They as a manufacturer have recovered most of development cost and with old platform can not compete with newly developed platforms - that is why they sell them so cheap.

It is a long model run but the body shape has aged well and been tweaked over the years to still look sharp. You seldom hear anyone who owns a lancer especially the CJ model complain about them and they have a pretty loyal following due to reliability and low maintenance costs and long warranty. For the money and the role that type of car is used they are hard to beat on value.

No, the FGX is Lancerish.
Lancer is a nice car, ive rented a few, they are great value if rather outclassed. Mits have just dropped warranty to 5Yrs and 100k only, which is a problem if you do higher kays and Hyundai/Kia are fighting for your attention.

Definitely a 2014 or something they've had sitting around for a while. The sport is on sale for $19,990. GSR usually goes for low 20s.

Sport is only 2lt. GSR retailed over the last year at around $25k drive away. Best I had seen recently was $21990 drive away inclusive of gst GSR is 2.4lt which is only available in sedans with $28k tag. Lots of people either buy sedans or SUVs. Hatchbacks while practical are NOT in vogue hence they come with more goodies to move them along. This cars body is 7 years old. After gst & tax income rebate thanks to Hockey this car will be at around $14k drive away with a 5yr warranty. # bargain |

Sounds like a bloody good buy... Mum bought one Brand New in 2008 (Base Model with the 2 litre engine) and its a bloody good car... Hasn't had a single problem with it since the day she picked it up and is still as tight as the day it left the factory...

My daughter bought a new lancer in late 2009 and after 120K kms she has only had to pay for normal service costs. No warranty claims and as part of the latest recall she got a free new engine belt and pulleys earlier this year.

My apologies, why did you sell it? The work you put into it was quite impressive.

I owned a MY09 VRX Lancer for around 6 and a half years and loved the car to bits, only mechanical difference to yours is mine was 5 speed manual. Your car no doubt has more features too so for 18k that's a bargain! We paid around 32k!
The car was bulletproof for us, we drove it across country and on all types of terrains (gravel, snow, dirt, mud, freeways you name it) and it never missed a beat. It honestly never went in for repairs of any sort for that whole period. The only negative I thought though was the road noise, I thought it was quite bad in that department but I was happy to accept that given it was so good in every other area. Maybe they have addressed that since 2008? Our car regularly looked like this: But because we loved it I would always return it to this state: Last edited by satria; 10-07-2015 at 07:21 AM. |

I can only assume that they have improved the road noise problem because it is now quite acceptable especially compared with the Mazda 3.
Only faults so far with the car is no rear sensors with the reverse camera & the front seats are somewhat flat. My I Load has a better drivers seat. |

Yeah, Road noise is a real drama in mum's one.. If yours is heaps better I can only assume they sorted it in one of the little updates they have done...
We where only talking last night about upgrading it (I always get the call when someone in the family wants to upgdrade) and she loves hers so much she wants another one...lol..

Not from QLd is it?
Theres a whole heap of them getting about with light hail damage or repaired hail damage around the $18k mark. |
