Bet it's electrical.
Shame, I would be devastated if it was one of my cars, I always carry at least one fire extinguisher in my classics, my GT has three, coupe will have two, XB ute has two, but not sure it would make much difference but at least I can give it a shot.

Just terrible. I can't imagine how I would be in the same situation.

Maybe faulty fuel line? Petrol plus hot exhaust manifold?

Dam that sux bad, recently restored, my money is on some s.....tty Chinese repro electrical component failing.
Could be so many things but looks like it started in the middle of the car not under the hood which is unusual. |

Can a car be restored after it has been in a fire like that?

Usually no, the heat messes with the structural integrity of the steel.
When you're the insurance company looking at a possible 300-400k payout who knows lol |

What a coincidence that it happened right next to an emergency phone!
Yes there's a lot to be said for carrying a fire extinguisher. I have them everywhere, house, boat & car. Not only could it prevent a personal tragedy but you also have the ability to help others if need be. |

Somewhere near Avalon Speedway I believe, we raced there last night and I didn't see it but a heap of people mentioned seeing it on the way in, so it must have been taken away around 4:00pm yesterday.
So sad to see. |

trolling aside, such a shame, literally irreplaceable peice of history :(
What to do next is a double edged sword It should be crushed and the VIN scrapped, but would it be better to rebody and let the number carry on? Would be a good opportunity for someone with a non-original engine number I guess |

If it's actually a legit phase 3... They made 300 but there's currently 765 registered...
I don't think there's been actual confirmation whether or not it's a legit p3, or even a legit gt yet. |

You might want to buy some sunscreen just in case.
