Smile Meet the Man with the Rarest GTHO Phase 111.

"Peter Horder and his brother Jason each have one of the rarest Ford Falcons ever made: the coveted GTHO Phase III. It famously won Bathurst in 1971 and became a legend of the motoring world.
Ford built 300 examples in an era when the Bathurst race cars had to be identical to what was available off the showroom floor.
Only about 150 remain in existence, snapped up by collectors.
The Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III was about $5200 brand new in 1971, but immaculate examples fetched more than $700,000 before the Global Financial Crisis."

Fixed....

Ford built 300 examples in an era when the Bathurst race cars had to be identical to what was available off the showroom floor.
Only about 6250 "original" examples remain in existence

The irony is that as a country we have people with half a million dollor toys. Nearly every one I know has an expensive toy (harley, boat etc) and expects to be paid a wage that can sustain that lifestyle. The money has to come from somewhere and that has been big business, which is now taking its money to where it can get 10 workers for one Aussie worker. We have overpriced ourselves out of the game.

Keeping in mind what we pay for things here compared to other countries. If we didn't have the wages we have we wouldn't be able to eat.

Well that's a first!

Nice all the GT`s , but hoeys obviously the duper dooper hero models , but even the stocker non racer GT with an auto was a good thing , my first ride in an XY GT was a white with black stripes , 3 speed auto , and it was just an awesome cruiser , effortless acceleration and smooth , and very cool watching the shaker heave in the bonnet .

It's a mere 50-60 years since our current lifestyle became possible, it was never going to last.

Not relevant,
the owner of the GT that is the subject of this topic owns an industrial painting business.
Can we just leave this thread to appreciate the GT in question?
Bill.

Just about everything costs more here. One example I have off the top of my head is in the States I bought a pair of Nike shorts for US$35. That was its regular price. The same shorts in Rebel here cost $109. Any wonder I came back with 3 suitcases full of just clothes.

Yup, I belive we are on the down hill now. Future generations will have less opportunities and have a greatly reduced lifestyle. Shuffling real eastate and making coffee will not sustain an economy.
Current pollies are arguing over fluff why the country is going down the drain...

Future 5G technology will tank many current middle income jobs and maybe some that are further up the grape vine, but there will alway be those innovators in business that will manage to create asset wealth and have both the desire and ability to buy a race homologation special like a HO or a XU1 or what ever else they desire. The buying of our home grown homologation classics will become more of a global phenomenon..................

Cheers Mick

Hmmm - thought the Op's original opening thread was commenting on a GTHO.
Seem's to have morphed into something else.

At least my post stayed on the topic of rare Fords
GTHOs should have stayed ay pre stupid prices of 2002ish 50-60k. They haven't got any better. Now people are asking that money for an XB GT. How about finding an Cobra or under 20k. The car the GT community shunned now beating all but GTHOs.

I'm not sure. If it's horder by name, is it hoarder by nature? they can put any price on anything, and guess what? it's not for sale...

I thought Onyx back with sunroof now residing in Gosford museum would be rare than that, its 1 of 1. That's how you define rare isn't it?
