Default Well look who's lost their cardigan and slippers...

Each time I see the ad on TV I like it more and more.
Still waiting to see what it's going to cost to buy the new Mazda6 turbo.

They may have lost their cardigan and slippers, but they've replaced them with a nice woolly jumper and a comfy pair of loafers...

We have some current 4 cyl Camry's at work. For a four banger, it picks up and goes....
Hangs on to corners at high speed and doesn't get out of shape.
Currently does around 8.9l/100 as well.
Looking forward to the 2GRFE engines.

Don't mind it. V6 would be an ok drive. Had 2 Aurion's in the past a ZR6, and Sportivo. Didn't mind them.

Anyway, we can mock it and say how ugly it is, but the simple fact is, that you can't buy a falcon or commodore any more and you can buy a Camry. Apparently toyota must be doing something right.

Agreed.

Their cars appeal to a broader audience. They get more sales! Simple.

You can still buy new Commodores, too.

Not sure the assumption that because they are still for sale means that the manufacturing company is doing something right tho

Correct, you can buy new old stock Australian made Commodores, but like the falcon those stocks will run dry soon.

I think its safe to assume that since you can buy a new 2018 Camry that they are still in production and selling. GASP!! Toyota actually may be giving the buying public something they want. May not be what "you" want, but in this case majority rules.

Falcon and Commodore were and are great cars, but lets face it Toyota have the formula right - make a car that appeals to the masses world wide. No matter how many Falcons or Commodores were sold it was inevitable that they would eventually become extinct as they can't compete on a world wide scale.

This is exactly what holden is doing with new commodore - world wide platform....

Its not about which car is better. It about which car will give the most people what they want.

No point really! I was merely stating that the huge minority neither know or care whether their car is Fwd or Rwd

The vast majority of Camry drivers couldn't care less what's under the bonnet either - just as long as it has a Toyota badge. They should all be white, because most are bought simply an appliance to be used by their owner, who has absolutely no interest in cars, and only lifts the bonnet to refill the washers if they run dry between services.

Car enthusiasts sometimes need reminding that 90 or even 95% of our population aren't like the rest of us who do have an active interest in cars.

Lexus? Not sure if the GS is Camry size (maybe slightly bigger). I know the ES is but it's FWD.

Somehow I don't think anyone who buys a red 3.5 litre 224kw V6 will think they be buying an appliance.
