I had two 9x4x14 oval center offset mufflers, two resonators & 2 x 200 cell hi flo cats stolen from my property yesterday. They had only been delivered a few hours before & I didn't even unbox them. Nearly $650 worth of parts gone. By the remote chance anybody is offered these, they are all 2.25'' diameter Magnaflow products & were taken from the Hills Shire, Sydney.

I would also give the transport company a ring.
They may have had other similar instances. Maybe an inside job, or did someone just stumble across them? |

Thanks for all the replies. Definitely delivered & signed for by my neighbour who is totally trustworthy (older lady) and it is the same courier who always delivers our area. He has always done the right thing & there has been much more valuable deliveries than this. The fact that they were at the front door, which is not visible from the street, leads me to think it may have been a door to door sales person of some type. Even though I have signs saying no sales people/don't knock etc, they all still come to the door. Everything from art students with paintings to blokes in green shirts looking for garden/tree work. Then there is the guys who drive around looking for scrap metal as there are still council chuck outs (2 per year) in my area. At the end of the day, I will have to wear it & replace the parts out of my own pocket. In the last three weeks, Iv'e twice found new smart phones that have been dropped in car parks etc and handed them in to the police. My karmic scales must be way out of whack lol. House & Contents insurance excess is either $500 or $800, so even if the parts were covered, it's not really worth it.

Might be worth checking with the neighbours in the street and across the road, if they saw any suspicious vehicles outside your place, or if they have security cameras facing the street.
Being heavy exhausts, Probably not the sort of products that would be hand carried very far. |

I never authorise for my stuff to be left at the door, if I'm at work and they attempt delivery I get a card and then I go to the depot and pick it up.

I'm trying to get my head around this.
There was a delivery to your place. The lady next door signed for them. They were left on your front door. They were not there when you got home. Lemme put my bush lawyer hat on here. So you never received them, never signed for them, never saw them. My guess is the onus is on the delivery company. That be fitty dolla. I'm not an idiot, check out my avatar. If you want another opinion, here it is. The onus is on the delivery company. That be two by fiddy dolla now. |

It is a sad indictment of our society that honesty has gone the same way as manners.
I hope that one of your neighbours has noticed someone ferrying your items away and lets you know. |

How can a neighbour sign for your stuff?
I would be on to the delivery company cause surely they are liable here. |

Good luck getting a 14” muffler with inlet and outlets into a shoe box. And that would be 6 boxes, 2 x mufflers, 2 x resonators and 2 x high flow cats.

Where I live, I am good friends with my neighbours opposite & next door. We all work different hours & sign for each others delivery's if we can, but often the courier leaves the stuff at our door. There is also the issue that those electronic pen sign machines are impossible to leave anything but a squiggle at best which could make it difficult to prove who signed. In the past, I have requested goods not be left without signature and have come home to find them left there regardless and then there is the issue of organising another delivery or having to get to the depot to pick up if you've missed the courier. I will just put it down to bad luck & write it off. Whoever stole them will no doubt come undone soon enough. Thanks again to those who offered their advice. Just glad it wasn't the NOS Speedline Rebel Alloys x 5 I had delivered last year.

R'cam I'd go for a bit of a walk around the neighbourhood and keep an eye out in gardens and so on.
This sounds like the work of an opportunistic thief who has grabbed the delivery hoping to find it contained easily sold or swappable items. I reckon that once they unpacked them they probably may have discarded the contents and packaging. The average scumbag thief would not see value in your consignment as they're generally not 'car people'. I would also report it to police. You may think it's pointless, however I can tell you from many years of personal experience that sometimes the most difficult task for investigators when charging a property crime offender is finding owners for the gear that they invariably have stashed away in their homes and sheds. Officers spend a lot of time trying to identify property from these hauls by trawling through burglary and theft reports. If you haven't reported it then they won't know to call you. Also I'd have a yarn with everyone around your address to see who has security cameras pointing out to the street. These things are popping up everywhere now that the price has come down on them so much over recent years. Most people that go to the trouble of fitting them just love playing amateur sleuth when there's an incident like this in their neighbourhood. Hope you have some luck with it mate. I think most here would have very similar viewpoints when it comes to thieves, so we're feeling your frustration. Russ. |

SO SORRY to read about this . Some people just beggar belief . No justification in any way shape or form and makes me angry just thinking about your misfortune but I bet nowhere near as angry and disappointed as yourself .
I hope somehow or other you get all or some of your items back or the gits involved do the right thing and have an attack of the guilts . |

set up an alert on gumtree, they will eventually try to sell them.
Report it to Police. Yes, you want to be notified if they find them, but there may also have been a spate of such thefts in your area. Push back on the transport company. The amount of theft that goes on in the industry is staggering, most of it is opportunistic, and yes, you just described the perfect scenario. |
