Filled up the other day @ $1.74 for 98 and thought geez that’s gettin up there.
I downloaded an app called ‘petrol spy’ and what a brilliant app. Rediculously easy to use if anyone wants to give it a go. You can switch between type of fuels/locations in a second. This is a screenshot of Coffs as an example. Absolutely brilliant. It works with both Apple/Android- Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've tried some different apps, I found that the cheapest stations didn't display their prices.
well that's in Melbourne anyway

Petrol Spy relies on the public to send in prices.
Here in NSW there is a Gov app called FuelCheck that gives real time prices. Servos are obligated to register their prices for all fuels, if the price at the pump doesn't match the FuelCheck price a complaint can be made to NSW Fair Trading. https://www.fuelcheck.nsw.gov.au/App/

Thanks GasOLane. Checked it out and is even better than petrol spy. Some very handy features.
I’ve replaced it with the fuel check app - cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Pfft...why aren't you all using the 7/11 app?
it let's you use your location and scan the 5 nearest 7/11 fuel stations and lock in the cheapest price out of those 5 stores and use that price at any store. But with Android (or an Android emulator on a PC ;)) you can fake your location, and get the best priced 7/11 store in Australia locked in and use that This page has a script running to update the best 7/11 prices: https://projectzerothree.info/prices.php Lots of info here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288802 I prefer to use BP or VPower, but 7/11 use Mobil so I don't mind using it as it' saving me a heap. I drive 900km a week, so the saving are way up there for me. Last fill up, I saved $28!!

Us backward Queenslanders don't really have an app as good as the NSW Check - I use a combination of 3 (!) apps to double & triple check for prices.
I use MotorMouth, Fuel Spy and also Gas Buddy. All 3 rely on people to submit prices, and none are perfect, some will have prices the others won't, and definitely have found days when I drive all the way to the fuel station and the prices are completely wrong. I've definitely tried to contribute by submitting prices myself - but as Bevsta said above, some of the cheapest places don't have prices available.

Could it be because there's no 7-Eleven anywhere near here.
That's handy.....on holiday In Bris, see that petrol is cheaper in Melb, drive to Melb and fill up

Same as GasOLane Scotsman, no 7/11’s around me either. I’d use a tank just to get to one and back. Thankfully though we do have running water and flushing toilets where I live

Yea, I realise that...mY post was sarcastic/humerous :P
There are none where I live either. Only on my work commute luckily. It's saved me so much money since I started using it to it's "full potential".

I use Petrol Spy and GasBuddy. Someone wrote a bot for Gas Buddy called GB_Direct and most of the time it reports the wrong price so I cross check with Petrol Spy.

Unfortunately no govt app in Vic. A significant number of servos dont list prices on Motor Mouth, RACV etc. I had a look at Petrol Spy some of the prices were several days old.
