There's already a thread on this.
And it's average emissions across the range that is the new reg coming in now. The average is supposed to be under 95g/km, which is very strict. For example, the whole average for australia across all new cars sold is about double that. Ford's solution was going to make it a hybrid, but it would have blown the cost out by a lot which made it unfeasible for them. It's just the start I reckon. All the other manufacturers will start feeling the pinch of these stricter emissions regs. And which cars are the first to get the chop? The higher performance ones that have bigger engines and use more fuel. |
