Smile Xf outback ute

Hi all, I’m new here. I just purchased a 1991 Falcon GL Ute. It appears a bit odd to me.
It has two fuel tanks, front shock brace,it has been lifted quite a bit. And the rear shocks have what look like they have reinforced covers on them.
VIN is: JG40MU68629
Anyone with any ideas please share with me.
Cheers
Slim

VIN checks out as October 91 build but Outback wasn't a thing until around 95. It did have long range tanks though.
Im thinking someone has fitted Outback extras to an earlier build.

An even more interesting model was the Outback, which was a good device. Launched in 1995, the Outback was a serious piece of equipment. Available only with the 4.0-litre six (the return of the V8 Falcon ute was still another couple of years away) the Outback added a clever, locally developed differential called the Hydra-Trak, to the running gear. With the extra traction that provided the big wheels and tyres with their aggressive tread pattern, a well-driven Outback would actually go a lot of places light-duty four-wheel drives would have struggled to arrive at.

To make the most of the vehicle's outback mile-eating abilities, Ford also added long-range fuel tanks.

Should have model code 45071 which is the updated 1990 on XF ute and is just a GL.

My mate helped Ford develop the outback ute. XG, they had raised suspension, donaldson air cleaner, twin fuel tanks, hydratrack diff, bullbar and various shields and under guards. This eventually led to the RTV in the BA BF.

Yeah, this one sounds like an XF with some Outback gear added.

BTW does anyone know what the model number & RPO code is for the XG Outback ute.

Was it based on a GLi or an S ute ?

Was this a WA car?
Myself and a mate both had XF utes in early 2000, mine was made up of bits from the wrecking yard I had, lifted with factory alloys and off road 16" tyres, mine was a bit thrown together, his was done properly with reset leaf springs coils shocks etc, cant remember what parts he used in his, they looked the part at the time like off road XF utes

We were going for this look

Don’t recall seeing that model before. Tailgate is inspirational.

I think the model code was 45771 and was based on GLi, not sure about option code.

That raises more questions. I read that as the vehicle is RPO 78, but you could order an "Outback Pack" on any other vehicle as RPO 9X ?
