Looking for some input here.
Currently building a healthy Barra Turbo for my GU Patrol. Through my work I can get quality diesel oil for a good price. Now I know to put diesel oil in a previously running petrol motor isn't good as it will clean it out too well but what about with a new build from the outset where everything is clean? At the end of the day if its a bad idea to use the diesel oil i won't do it but people's thoughts would be good. Cheers |

If the oil meets specifications and viscosity, you can certainly use it, you will find there are oils suitable for both petrol & diesel engines.
As you mentioned the only time not to use it, would be in a worn petrol engine due to the cleaning properties of the oil. |

It was pretty common to use quality diesel oil in the Porsche turbo (Mezger) motors - Mobil one diesel use to have a pretty good ZDDP package.
Can't see why you'd have a problem. Good oil is good oil, in the last decade it may have changed but specialist websites will tell you all about detergents, ZDDP, TBN etc etc I'm Currently using Diesel oil in vee twin bikes... |
