Hi fellas, I have a AU 1 fairmont wagon without traction control. I have recently noticed that there is an extra cable where the traction control option plugs in. My Question is what would I have to do to add this option to my car?
It already has ABS, and a mate of mine said all I need is a button and then have it activated by ford is this true?? |

You need 4 channel ABS for T/C. The non T/C cars have 3 chanel ABS, so at the very least you will need the 4 channel modulator assembly (sits near plastic coolant header tank on AU's)

excuse my ignorance of this, but afaik the traction control has nothing to do with the brakes.. im positive it just cuts power at the engine........ at least thats what ive noticed from my folk's AU2 mont wagon

Yep it cuts power if applying the brakes to the spinning wheel doesn't get the message home. Quite a killjoy in the wet!
It is all related to the 4 channel ABS to do this and needs the AUII ABS and BEM module to get it going. |

It cuts the engine spark as the abs sensor picks up that one or more wheels are spinning faster then the others.

you want traction control put a couple of sand bags in the rear
if you don't just take em out!! besides if i can remember correctly - how much traction control do you need pulling 102rwkw 2dogs |

I've got it on mine and spends most of the time off, I can't believe how much it cuts power when it on. It is very user unfriendly and is actually slower than backing off and re-applying the power yourself.
