Heya guys and girls..
Finally got caught today driving my XR6T on my P's.. $110 on the spot fine no demerit points, after having it for 8 months without ever getting pulled over or looked at i finally did today about 2 minutes from my house.. LoL! It was the risk i took but it came unstuck today.. looks like ill wait till the BF comes out and get the XR6 Sedan. Does anyone know what the next fine or anything would be if i get caught again? Funny thing is, ive had that many police cars right behind me and not do anything about it. Today i was going through a roundabout and whack hes straight onto me.. Knew straight away what i was getting pulled over for aswell.. HaHaHa! can only laugh at it i guess! Cheers! Luke. |

Hey out of curiousity, what would you have done if you were in a in accident over the last 8 months - say hit a Porsche and did $20K worth of damage? or worse?
Surely they'd tell you to get bent? - Your insurance company that is, being not leagally allowed to drive that car. And being a BA XR6T I'd hope it is insured! Not trying to stir anything thing here just asking. Being on a restricted myself and paying $841 a year in insurance (I'm 18). Here in NZ a 15 year old can drive a Ferrari Enzo 6.0 V12 on the roads by himself and theres nothing the cops can do about it! |

But that would be because it was the other person's fault, thus their insurace payed? I just get the feeling if you caused a major accident this would be enough grounds for them to decline cover, as you are drving a car you leagally cant. I only put this to you as I had my Skyline written off a few months ago, luckily it wasnt my fault and insurance were very nice and genereous ;) - but nowadays I don't drive, AT ALL after 10pm as per my restricted license conditions, because I fear that if I was to be in another accident insurance would say why wre you driving at 10.01 without a supervisor? and I'd lose thousands of dollars.
Can't wait 'til I get my bloody full license. |

I hope to god the car isn't in your name either, otherwise the coppers have probably put through an intelligence report on your car and it may continue to happen.... |

Infact, our friend Greg Murphy set the fastest EVER lap in a "car" at Pukekohe Raceway year before last I think it was. Only one in NZ. Infact a very rich friend of mine, who has an even richer firend's dad (I know, we've heard this before) owns that car. Spud was leant the car just to warm up the crowd at the V8Supercar round before the first race on the Sunday, this was in the wet, and I know I've got pictures somewhere. My mate actually showed us a fair few piccies of him sitting in the Enzo, in a garage somewhere in an Auckland home. We'd never have believed him otherwise, and there is only one in the country, this is the same one that was at Big Boys Toys and you couldn't get within 3 meters of it. Well worth the $20 entry fee though! |

if you can prove the car was purchased before the rules were implemented you can still drive it , according to the RTA website...

If the insurance company agree to cover him as a driver I'm pretty sure there's nothing else that can be said.

My vote is on removing the Turbo badges too, only a true enthusiast cop would know how to pick the difference (unless you have a ****y BOV). My brother-in-law's Turbo is a sleeper - no turbo badges, but 280+ rwkw, leave 'em guessing!
Drive safely, keep your horses under a short reign, and get yourself to a defensive driving course, but don't lose the turbo, just the badge. |

Like the others have said, take the turbo badge off, put it in the glovebox or something, and once your restrictions end, stick it back on (if you want to).

Regarding ute vs sedan weight (sorry for going o/t):
They must have a hell of a lot of structural stiffness added to the **** end! I would've thought the old live axle rear and the lack of much of the body beyond the B-pillars would weight a whole lot less than the rear of a BA sedan with control blade! Looks are deceiving I spose ;) Another fact learnt today |

i know the holden 1 tonne is also a heavy mofo |

I honestly dont think ive got a problem with my insurance.. Its under my dads name with me as primary driver and RACV had no problems with it.
No questions asked, i can see where you guys are coming from though they could just turn around and say no we aint gonna cover you if i do have an accident.. He did check that it was my car and that i owned it ( yes its under my name ) so there we probably be something on there system saying that im driving a restricted car. To XLS99 Ute Man, i can afford this car because i have a very decent paying job where im able to pay off the monthly payment in a weeks pay without it affecting my living style at all.. |
