Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a wagon for the growing family and have not found any Au Fairmont ghias, I have found a few Fairmonts but no ghias. Was there an AU Fairmont Ghia wagon ? I think there was, but where are they ? : Also what is the difference between Forte, Futura and SR models in the wagons ?

i think that the forte is the lowest rank then the futura, and i think the SR is a sort of sport model like the s pack in the earlier fords

You will not find any AU fairmont Ghia wagons because I dont think they never made them (correct me if im wrong anyone). Fairmont wagons were produced , but I dont think the VCT motor and leather was ever put in a wagon (which was part of the Ghia package on sedeans)

higher ranked models have more luxuries, like power windows, velour or leather interior etc etc and the sport model would have an upgraded suspension and other handling tweaks

No Ghia Wagons, and no Wagons had the VCT Motor. AU Fairmont wagons exist but that is about as luxury as you will get.

An EL XR6 wagon would be nice, but I have only been able to find a couple of EF XR6.
Not bad, 154,000k for $8,990. http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/Deskt...ias=carpointau Looks nice, but $12,000 with 245,000 is a bit much I think. http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/Deskt...ias=carpointau I saw an EL wagon on the road, but too bad it wasn't forsale :o(

There are meant to be about 12 assorted EL non-XR models with XR6 motors in them floating around somewhere from an engine shortage at Ford, but ive never seen nor heard of any like this so it may be bs, dont know.

i've heard that EB fairmont ghias have XR6 motors, which i think they should be it true or not, they need some grunt to compensate for the weight

In the AU Wagons you can get fairmonts in V8 or INTCH 6 cyl no VCT or Ghias from the factory no manuals from the factory all auto's.
If you go AUII there is very little difference between a ghia just a bit more woodgrain and chrome and the VCT and the IRS on the sedan. All the climate control, cruise 4 power windows dual air bags premium 6 stacker stereo etc are there |

Oh well, I looked at an EF XR6 wagon that I though was good, turned out to be in pretty bad condition, then I saw a nice EL wagon which I managed to get for a ggod price.
So no AU wagon, I just bought an EL wagon. http://search.carsguide.news.com.au/...h_used_action=

E series wagons are good too, bit heavy but nicer back end looks. My pick would be the EFII fairmont wagon but the EL's fine.

A nice set of wheels, drop it 1" all round, tinted windows and it'll look great.
