Default Steering wheel upgrade

Hello everyone. I'm looking to change my steering wheel in the S pack, i've currently got the XR perforated leather wheel. I am looking to get something which is thicker. I have tendonitis in my hands so i'm looking to keep my fingers more open, so the thicker to wheel the better.

What are the momo wheels like? Can anyone tell me the thickness so I can compare to my current one. I had a BA fairmont for a while, and the wheel was rather thick and it suited me well.

I found this aswell.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-EF-AU-ST...QQcmdZViewItem

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Merry Christmas

Adrian.

The Momo wheel is 12cm in diameter. They look & feel the part.
They haven't even mentioned the brand name on the ebay wheel, which is a concern. At least with momo you know you are getting quality.

SleeperAU where is the 12cm measured from? The brand of the other wheel is AutoTek.

That is at 10 to 3 , where you hang onto the wheel. It does go as small as 10.5 cm at the top & bottom. I would post a pic but my camera is RS.

Ahh ok, so thats the circumfrence, sounds like what I need. I'm a little iffy on the quality of the other wheel. Where in sydney can you get the momo's? I'd rather see it in the flesh before buying one. Roman autotek want $275????

Must admit I upgraded from the preforated leather wheel to the MOMO LEATHER WITH INSERTS) and could never looked back. It is definatley thicker, and more comfortable to drive with. Money well spent.

You might want to go to ford,(for a look definately don't buy from there!) the momo wheel was the one exclusively used on the TE/TS 50. They come in a couple of different colours, blue & red as far as I know. I got mine on EBay a while a go & paid $325 including registered post with the momo shifter as a package deal. That was reasonably cheap though the wheels alone usually go for $275.

Adrian .. I have the black/grey AU Momo wheel in the ute ... much thicker than the standard steering wheel.

I got mine from Roman Auto-tek brand new for $200 ... I nearly fell over in shock ... it was cheaper than I expected.

I don't have pics though unfortunately.

It's so much more comfortable to use when driving.

I'd show you ... but I don't lve at Eastern Creek anymore ... but i could drop past if you wanna see.

I know FTG Autosalvage had some of these awhile ago .... but I don't think they have them now though ... they are getting rarer and rarer.

The Autotek or momo wheels are very similar in thickness etc. Either one will be better than the black perforated one. Just do a search for MoMo on ebay and they should come up. Ebay is about the only place you can get them from with any regularity.

To offset the cost a bit after you have the new wheel, throw the black leather one on ebay. I have been getting $60 to $80 for the standard vinyl ones, so you should expect to get over $100 for a black leather one.

What I'm curious about is whether the 'inserts' (ie, the silver/blue/etc) bits on the new Autotek/SVO (Mick Webb is rebadging them as well) wheels are be 'redone'. I reckon if I got one of those and modicoated the inserts the same pattern as my other interior bits, that would look awesome!

Dellboy, I was going to say that you can't fit an AU wheel to an EA, but then I remembered you fitted the BA shifter, so I don't think you know the word "can't" anyway! LOL.

yep , and you will need the 'special' torx bit to remove the airbag

we still have a few blue/black wheels in stock and 1 black/grey wheel

but we have been told thats them all , and there wont be any more.

the colored shifter handles for the t/bars are also finished and manual gearknobs are limited in supply

T50 is needed for the centre bolt ... also there are smaller ones in the backing of the steering wheel as well ... but from memory I used allen keys for those.

I borrowed one of a FordMods member ... but i think SuperCrap sell Torx bit sets.

FTG ... got any chrome autoshifter buttons for the AU ... and chrome selector surrounds as well ... oh chrome AU interior front door handles as well ... not asking for much here ... hee hee

Nothing an angle grinder and compter case brackets can't fix ...... lol

In this case I am fitting an EF rack and steering column complete, so an AU wheel will bolt straight on.
