The next Falcon and Territory will use the same basic body (much more so than now). The name will still be used however.
The Falcon will be a low-riding high-roof sedan (ala US Ford 500) version of the Territory sharing all hard points, doors, interiors etc. Only frontal treatment and tailights will differentiate them (other than ride height of course). Falcon will be shorter, wider and taller than now. Styling cues will come from 500, Fusion and Iosis concept. Other details - Futura, Fairmont and wagons will go. 200kw six and ZF will be std. Manuals for XRs only. (US CVT being considered conditional on market acceptance by traditional Falcitory buyers) AWD will be optional on XR6 Turbo (260KW) and Fairmont Ghia (Turbo optional). Boss 260 will be only V8 used (XR8 will be distinguished from other V8s only by styling and suspension tune ala current NA XR6). Non FPV V8 development on hold pending fuel prices - a Ford family diesel will be ready if necessary and V8s may be dropped from non FPV range. EGas dev also pending LPG pricing - diesel may replace. Fairlane and LTD sedans will be replaced by a LWB Territory version (the names may still be used). The super luxurious LWB T will have 20cm added behind the rear doors and have optional 6 seat layout with 4 "captains chairs" in the rear. 'TS' Territory dropped. Falcon ute (2WD) will be low-riding like sedan. Territory ute (4WD) will be dual cab style (like US Explorer Sport Trac) . |

How the hell can you make a raft of MASSIVE claims about the future of Ford Australia and offer absoloutly NOTHING to back it up with.
It gets stamped with a big "BS" as far as I'm concerned.

Sound like rubbish to me. There is always going to some level of product rationalisation, but there are some far fetched claims there.

Under the current economic climate, I wonder if Ford Aus would have a good business case for something like a 4WD Terri ute, when they have a dual-cab Courier/Ranger...

mmmmmm, all this flaming and still no backup to claims, or proof.
If ford were doing half of what you claim Henry himself would be knocking on the door. (I bet your the type that runs to his mates and mouths of everything he reads.) Gees I didn't tell anyone that Murpy was driving a Ford in 2007 until I was sure.

So the Falcon will look like a lowered Territory with a boot?
I don't believe it, it would be the ugliest vehicle in the world. No car manufacturer is that stupid, are they?

An interesting post but I think everyone is extremely skeptical and with good reason.

As for the rest its patchy at best.. LWB sedan turning into LWB Terries would seem fairly logical. But I think Fords going to drop LWB altogether except for the ute. Ford won't drop LPG, not for the next 10 years. Ford isn't keen on diesel either, for the Australian market. There won't be a diesel falcon until we see a diesel focus on our shores. |

OK you got me. Sorry I was bored on a Friday afternoon. I guess I was just painting a worst case scenario to stir up some comment (I didn't realise some of you were so sensitive).
However Ford Australia is working on a replacement Falcon in a harsh environment. Their parent company is trying desperately hard not to learn from their mistakes and some of their less than clever ideas may infriltrate down under. The BF, good as it is, will cop a flogging from the VE and maybe the Camry/Aurion for at least 18 months (ala EL) just because by then it will the oldest design on the block. If sales fall below a certain market share is it that hard to imagine the US saying dump the Falcon (replace it with 500) and concentrate on the Territory? I hope they don't. As for V8s well we've been through that before. I hope Ford OZ has learnt from their mistakes. LWBs have been let run down from a point where the Fairlane created and defined the segment. Maybe the 300C will provide some evidence that there's life in the local luxury segment yet. Let's make some noise to ensure that my post doesn't come true. |

After Falcon sales figures in recent years, and the rate of improval, I find it near impossible to believe that Ford would even consider making changes this dramatic. Why would you take something that has been working so well, and managed to be more and more accepted by the public with every minor tweak, and then go and completely alter near-on every aspect of your product?
Yeah, you'd be popular too... I think not! Edit: DAMN! I started this post to express my view on the situation, and by the time I'd posted it, the truth to the rumours had only just been admitted. :
