I went in to Ford today and has a look at the Tickford snorkle and was not at all impresed. It is barley bigger then the standard one.
Who does a big snorkle for the AU. I saw one (Pic in this forum) that looked a bit like a box, but it looked aftermarket (not homemade)? Any ideas?

The Tickford snorkle holds approx twice the volume of air than the standard one.
SS inductions (or Aunger) make a really big one which requires modification to the airbox (ie cut some away), but at over $200 each, I'm not sure they provide an additional $150+ worth of air. I got one for $100, but that's the absolute max I would pay for one, and while it makes more noise, I'm not sure it has helped the car go any quicker than it did with the tickford snorkel and the supplementary "Casper" intake mod..

A good snorkle .... well it depends how deep you want to go diving , might be worth considering some flippers too ..lol
Imo i think for how much larger even the tickford snorkle is , you'de be better off just adding and extra cai to the airbox , way cheaper and u'll end up with more air than the slightlly larger snorkle , besides the air from your own extra intake will probably be cooler too ( it doesn't have to run over a hot radiator and near the hot radiator hose like the standard snorkles do ) .. just my 2 cents .

Here's a couple of shots of the wagon's SS snorkel, and the intake, including 3" pipe inside the lid:
3" pipe inside airbox lid (same theory as an EF lid, but bigger)

They are a custom order - you can get them in blue, black, or red, I think - and they cost me over $100 through AutoPro. Found out a week after I got them I could've got them trade for $80.

Top Guns, ok I'll keep that in mind. Do they have the cylinder numbers on them? I reckon when I'll replace mine, I'll go a red set, whatever brand I go for. Gotta love red! BTW I hate it when you fork out hard earned cash and the bit you bought is on sale in the next catalogue! : GK |

Go with the Tickford.. coming from a Commodore background, the offical products ( a basic CAI unit ) are 90% of the time better than an over-priced CAI from Autobarn or whatever. And they're alot cheaper.. so even if it does very little, $40 is nothing to cry about.

Depends if you want crome nuts or standard. If they aren't in production any more, triple the price. Discount for buying five or more! lol.

I got 2 for $27 from ford - about 3 years ago. FastXR has one, and I still have the other.

This is probably a stupid question to ask but since my motto when it comes to engines is " I know what it is not what is does" ill ask anyway and hopefully not get thought of as an idiot.
