Default 2007 Expedition EL

Yes i know about fuel prices, but that isn't going to force every family in to a Hyundai, this looks like a worthy replacement for the Explorer (as fuel consumption between the two was never that much anyway) much more room, luxuriousness, towing ability etc Ford need a vehicle that will do well there,
The new rumor, is that it will be also coming out with the PAG 3.6L V8 diesel later on, so fuel economy will actually be pretty good with that motor. (my guess would be 10-12L per 100km as it weighs close to the Discovery 3) Also has a 6 speed auto, IRS etc. the 3.6L diesel puts out 200kw/650Nm

http://www.fordvehicles.com/futureve...pedition/home/

Bring it on with the PAG V8 diesel!

Can't stand American trucks. Big Dumb stupid things they are. It almost seems an Oxymoron to have a 6 speed auto in one as that seems too smart for an amercan truck...

Love the terratree though. HUGE fan.

It would sell, just as the Explorer would have if it was to be competitively priced and had reasonable offroad abilities. Since Ford's SE Asian region will opt to use their own 4WD platforms the probability of a RHD Explorer or Expedition will be unlikely for Australia.

I'd prefer the Expedition to the Asian Ford alternative.

The expedition has been around america for years. It is based on the f150. It is also much bigger than the explorer. There is a bigger one again, called the excursion which is based on the f250 and comes with a V10.
Ford would never bring it here, unless it was ckd as just freight alone is too cost prohibitive, and that would price it up against some japanese and euro 4wd's. At this point in time, american vehicles are not that viable unless they are ckd. Look at the f250, it's up at like 80k. The same vehicles are available from 24k US.

F250s are like $35k-45 US these days thats about $55-70k Australian which is not far off what we are paying, although ours arent as spec'd up as theirs.
Main point of this thread was the introduction of the 3.6L diesel which i believe could make the Expedition and Expedition EL, a global vehicle for Ford.

Sorry dude, they're much cheaper than that. Check the ford website.

$24000 is the non drive away price for XL manual F250 5.4 single cab 4X2

for XLT 4x4 diesel crew cab automatic, even in the USA it's $40-45k go to the price calculator and option those things

Thats what costs about $75-80k AUS here - so although we are paying more.... it's not as bad as vehicles like the BMW X5 which cost about $40k US also, and here they are about $110k

Yeah for some reason the euro marquees are really expensive over here. The S500 is between 80-100k in the USA, and is 270K plus here.

Why would Ford want this vehicle to be a global player when it has the Land Rover brand that will use the new twin turbo diesel?

Nice truck. I'd have one. Actually the missus wants a dual cab F250, so this might be the compromise we are looking for. Wonder how much they'll be second hand in 2010?

Land Rover is a premium brand with a premium price tag, its a totally different vehicle. like saying the Explorer and the Mustang have the same engine so one is redundant..

Expeditions are based on the F150, so is the Lincoln Navigator
The deleted Excursion was based on the F250

Sorry I was talking about the fact that Ford aren't making a great deal of these engines and most of them will end up in a LR product, not the cheap Expeditions with lower profit margins. Exports wouldn't add up if they only have a few thousand units that can use the new engine.

Australia will most likely end up with a SE Asian vehicle, not the Expedition.
