To think that the more fuel goes up, the more exise the government collects.........
We are basically being held at ransom by a government who isnt interested in how low wage earners live, but by how many ppl he can screw over for as long as it takes before someone (a motoring body) decides to stand up and do something about the 50 cents + a litre going straight into little Johhny's pocket. $70 a barrel for oil dosent warrant $1.43 at the bowser. Remember when Howard 'promised' that GST would never be put on fuel? 10 cents a litre ontop of the 50 cents of government tax is absurd. I will not be voting for John Howard next election, he has broken way too many promises.

From a friend of mine in Germany... they're paying for regular (95 RON there) - $2.48 AU/litre.
God I hope we never get to that stage. We'll all be driving 1.0 4cyl diesels like they do... 2010 Ford Falcon GT - High Output 1.5 TurboDiesel 4cyl with 85kW - Feel the Power!

: Tax on an excise is old news, get over it. Have you written to your local member of parliment? both Labour and Liberal parties? What have you done about it to justify making a complaint. Apart from your compulsory voting a few years ago, have you done anything else for your democratic right to bag out John Howard or Australian Government Policy? No? Then keep paying your 50+ cents per litre in excise.

Since GST was introduced I have written to local parties about "misleading the voters into believing that GST would never be introduced on fuel" & where, why and how fuel exise is collected.
If I had the policical knowledge and position, I'd be rattling the goverments cage until someone took notice. Didn't take long for a Pro Howard voting, cardigan wearing, mummy breast fed me till 14 years of age tool to back up a government who has continuously mislead voters into a majority in the upper house of parliament.

PS i'm not a liberal voter, i'm not a howard apologist, so don't assume things you don't know. I'm impressed that you wrote to your local members of parliament. Do you realise how many people don't know that they can, and that they are entitled to a personalised response? So what was your response from the MP's?

I managed to fill up on the way home from TAFE at 119.5 (at Mobil, after the 4cpl discount), but many of the other servos were up to 139.9
That's just for 91RON.

I can't imagine why people would not know that they can write into local MP's.
When the Seaford Pier was going to be demolished, I wrote in. When the Scoresby Fwy was announced to be tolled, I wrote in. The local MP at the time was fell of deaf ears when I wrote in about GST and fuel. Had you not assumed that I whinged before acting, the mud would not have been thrown.

Today at 2pm, fuel was $1.24.7 ($1.34.7 for me)
How do they justify 18 cents in one hit?

So a 68 Ltr tank at $1.195 would cost $81.26. At $1.395 it is $94.86 and who can remember when it was only $0.689 which cost $46.85. I dont mind pay for petrol but extremely high prices for watered down petrol is a big ask. The biggest way to save is keep your tank full as possible. $10 every now and then doesnt seem as much as $95 in one go.

Petrol getting expensive is a nightmare..it is not only petrol prices that go up .. other things prices will go up as well..for example we might buy milk more expensive..transportation costs..companies will put their prices up because of the cost of petrol..Wait and watch..it is just a nightmare..Here in Australia petrol is still kind of cheap..I am actually from Turkey..Over there now it is 3 $ a litre..
Also politics..USA bombing Iran..I dont want to imagine the petrol prices then.. |
