mates grandfather has a factory black xy fairmont...,it mite be for sale....pretty straight old girl too,bit of rust but he still uses it as an everyday driver and has since he got her brand new...
question is,apparently,cos i havent seen under the bonnet,its a factory 4 speed with,and here is the big one,sumthing like a 4.9l venturi 6cyl engine...wot is this?anyone got an idea.. UPDATE....just viewed the car,it is an xy,not factory black,but factory white interior,intake manifold is bolted on,mate swears it is a yank venturi motor,looks a bit bigger too a 250,ill get pics later...original tappet cover is red and has powered by ford stamped on it... got some codes off her.. Looking at the compliance plate info - as you supplied.(With the data kept here on AFF in the TECHNICAL RESOURCES AREA)
reveals car to be fitted with a 2V 250 motor (250 with a 2barrel carb), 4 speed manual gbox. The paint & trim codes don't match up though..... Should see if you can get the model number(should be a 18xxx) and reconfirm the paint & trim codes..... |

Ford made a 300ci 6 cylinder petrol in the late 60's / early 70's to power F 100's and trucks. This engine was interchangeable with V8's of that era. This engine would fit your description??

I would say it was more the 250cu 2V mtr with the 2bb stromberg carb that was fitted to the XY/XA falcons than the 240/300cu truck mtr.
