Default flo figures from old head

well i got the flow figures back from my original head i pulled off ,it flowed 351 hp at 500 thou lift and the exhaust flowed 72% of intake.the head i got ported flowed 368 hp at 500 thou.so i guess its not the head restricting it.
i'm going to get the cat checked soon.how much power do you think a dodgy cat would cause you to lose ?

Did they only measure the flow at .500"? You really need to know the curve at a few more points i.e. .100, .200, .300, .400...

What is the max lift of the inlet and exhaust valves of your current cam?

Just say max valve lift is .480", there is no value even knowing what the flow is at anything above that. The valve will spend very little of its open duration at max valve lift, which is why it is so important to know what the flow "curve" is like from .000" to max valve lift, say .480".

Too True even the Dev3HL HIGH LIFT only runs 0.525" max lift and I believe the Dev5 is only 0.530" so flow gains at 0.400 more useful in general terms.

Stock AU cam runs 0.476" lift on exhaust less on inlet I believe.

351hp at 0.500" is pretty damn good 72% isn't that bad either no real restriction here I think.

Not on a car thats running 140rwkw as it is anyway.

look at the flow from the original head 351HP or 276fwkw about 207RWKW!!

Even with the porting the potential increase is SFA 368HP about 275FWKW or 215RWKW.

No way a 140-160RWKW engine is going to gain much from porting then is it?

heres the flow figures from both heads .its in corrected cfm with 28 inches of pressure or somthin.

original head
valve lift cfm
.100 55.5
.200 105.7
.300 160.3
.400 198.2
.500 228.0 351 bhp
.600 236.1

ported head
.100 54.3
.200 106.7
.300 165.3
.400 211.2
.500 239.7 368 bhp
.600 251.8
the ported head kicks but with the flow figures .just dosn't make the power for some reason.
from memory both the streetfighter and gnd cam had 480 thou valve lift going by our dodgy mearsurements anyhow.
thanks for the help guys

from the flow figures you would guess maybe a small gain in power of around 5% which i gues translates to a bit less than 10rwkw on a falcon six.

All the numbers seem surprisingly good to me.

Most au heads flow around 280 hp.The stock head is a monster mate. 351 hp is amazing.

Did the exhaust side get modified as well, or just the intake?
