Default Climb Dance....

Apologies if a re-post (did a search and nothing came up) My old man paid $40 for this dvd that goes for about 3-4 minutes!! We've watched it probably ten times already...click on the link and download in the bottom left hand corner...enjoy

"Climb Dance is an award-winnning short film that documents the amazing record-breaking run of Ari Vatanen driving the four wheel drive, four wheel steer, turbocharged Peugeot 405 T16 in the 1988 Pikes Peak Hill Climb annual event."

As a kidlet I used to sit through Wide World of Sports and Sports Sunday just for when the showed clips of "Climb Dance"... Hislop at the Isle of Man was another one... those two videos, along with Gumball Rally, Bullitt, Grand Prix and LeMans were to drive my desire to go fast on both 2 and 4 wheels.....

Climb dance = Best incar footage EvAr!

Steve McQueen = Coolest man to ever have lived.

Ari Vatenen was one hell of a Rally Driver.
I think "Climb Dance" is one of the highest downloaded videos ever.

Ari Vatanen is a legend....The best part is it took years before anyone bettered his record.

The thing is that it was basically a hillclimb that wasn’t part of the rally programme.

Audi did something similar first with Walter Rohrl in the Sport Quattro S1 (this thing looked absolutely fantastic – a short wheelbase group B with the mother and father of all wings on it front and back). The cars competition life was almost over (it wasn’t mid-engined) so Audi thought that they would take it across to America fit things that wouldn’t have suited a rally car and get a bit of publicity by winning a hill climb. This is one of my favourite competition cars of all time.

Peugeot did the same thing later with Ari – tweaked engine that can run at different height levels and a lot of aero development. Ari had balls as a year or two before the run he had a huge crash that resulted in neck injuries.
I loved the sticker that was on the side “Caution – Finnish driver”

I think the record was held for about 10 years .... then Monster Tajima (from memory) beat it with his twin engined AWD Swift (can't remember the name it was given though .... which was then beaten not long after by the 1100hp Vitara (Escudo).

I thought Kiwi Rod Millen's Toyota Celica broke the record before Monster?
