EBGT version was exactly the same as the EDXR8 Sprint engine.
I believe the ELGT picked up a revised head and camshaft, EECV and ceramic coated Extractors Bar the difference in gt40 tubular and explorer manifolds.

redbook.com.au has the EBGT at 200kw and 420nm of torque, and the ED XR8 Sprint at 192kw and 388nm of torque. What both actually put out is anyones guess. I mean, can you imagine the task then of hitting that exact mark of 200kw and not say 198 or 203kw? Not bloody likely. As others have said probably a ramped up number to look good on a brochure, and prob some subtle differences to the motor.

I think it was more black and white than that, there was an actual cover up or something. I've read about it a few times in the popular magazines. Hence why the EL GT with the same out put but different engine components and heavier, was quicker down the strip (not by much!).
Also I think most of the EB GTs read low onthe dyno for a 200kw motor, and they were all consistent with the low result. The sprint read the same number and was quoted with a lower output. |
