Does anyone know how hard/expensive it is to fit VCT to an AU3 4lt?
I notice from the Gregories manual that the computer has an output for it and the gear drive replaces the existing sprocket. The solenoid protrudes out of the rocker cover and it has an oil connection to the oil pump. What needs to be replaced? assume sprocket and perhaps rocker cover. What about connecting to the oil pump? Is the cam and head the same or would they need to be changed out too? Anyone have any knowlege of this and is it realy of benefit? |

From what I know, you will need a VCT belt and VCT pulley, VCT head with cam, etc, and a VCT computer. Even if the wiring is there with the current computer, it will need an edit flash...
You may also need a VCT cam chain - not too sure. I looked into it, and your best getting a VCT motor from a wreck.... would be cheaper and easier, and you don't actually have a moddified engine... it's just a swap...

I dont think a standard ecu can run the vct component even if you get it edited. but as stated above, even if it can and you dont need the computer, you'll still need the bits and pieces mentioned above which will probably cost you more to buy individualy once itsall done and all the messin around involved.
