Default devestated....

hi guys,

just thought i would fill you all in on a little story of mine you might like to read, about a month ago i sold my beloved AU I6 ute, and replaced it with something alot more substatial. another AU ute, however with a 5.6L stroker, c6-10 ? 3 speed box etc etc....

being happy as the proverbial pig in poo of my new investment, as you would be, the ute was about 95% percent perfect, mainly the only thing it needed was a decent tune ( Which wa slined up to happen within the next month ) and it would of been on very nice daily driver, seeing around 250-260rwkw and a great note to boot.

untill wed night, 5.30ish at night..

i was travelling along a road, minding my own business when a car come hurtling thru the bushes ( median stripish kinda thing, with 10 foot or so high bushes ) straight at me. i had no time at all to brake, accelerate or any other, i turned slightly away from the vehicle coming straight at me ( he was doing within the vicinity of 100-110ish apparently, i really couldnt say.

and thus the result... I got 8 days in my new car, which i babied around due to the current tune and obviously not wanting to cause any damage to a new motor.

I have heard the your very lucky, but unlucky etc etc, might i jsut add, my last accident, was when iw as riding my motorbike, and some guy pulled out infront of me and the rest is history. so long story short, im sick of people driving their f*&king cars at me!!!

I have had great support from other, family & friends, i must say, the person i bought the ute from ( AUIIIXR8 ) has been of great help, and after a quick call to him to let him know of the bad news, he was at the crash scene within 10 mins to make sure i was ok, and to see his ex pride and joy being towed away.

Anyway guys ill let these few pictures tell the rest of the story, health wise i am very very well. very minor whiplash, and jsut some welts from the seatbelt. I had a sore neck for all of a day, and am now perfectly fine. So that is a huge bonus i must say. Both drivers ( myself and the other gentleman in his ute ) walked away from this accident both relativley unhurt> which is all i can say for the safety of new cars ( he was driving a Vy SS ).

oh yeah, we are both insured so there are no hassles there, lets jsut hope his insurance company doesnt try rip me off for what was an awesome ute.

All i can say is lucky he didnt hit you on the drivers door mate a very lucky escape, sorry about the ute tho it was a nice kept car and some good bits and pieces. At least the tub took the impact like a box and just crumbled. i cant believe it just ripped the diff and springs right off their mounts. Glad your un hurt.

shaun.

Its good to hear that you are ok.

I would of crapped myself seeing a car hurtling at me at over 100km/hr.

sorry i should of explained the story a little better..

the driver was travvling in the opposite direction to me. he Fell asleep/passed out at the wheel ( he told paramedics he has had a recent chest infection, started coughing, and then woke up facing a wall )

the speed limit on this road is 80, so i was travelling at that speed, probably a little under as the speedo is slightly out due to the gearbox change, and hasnt yet been rectified. and he fell asleep at the wheel, hence accelerating and eventually crossing the median strip onto my side of the road. came at me at about a 45 degree angle i suppose, but as i didnt see him till he came thru the bushes/trees, had no way of avoiding it.

Sorry to hear/see that mate. The fact your rear axle is so displaced is a good indicator of the force with which the other person hit you.

As much as insurance can pay, and the other driver will cop it from the law, you can never replace the potential that car had. That said, replacing yourself is an even harder task, so its good that you are okay.

i am sorry to see that

however since it is no front end damage and the cabin appears to be intakt you should buy the wreck back from the isnurance company and but a new chassis. you normally buy them for around 2g new and transplant everything across.

Really sorry to hear you have lost the ute to a crazy Commy driver Borry. Its a shame. Still, you are in one piece and walked away and that, in those circumstances, is the most you can ask for. I'd rather lose a car then a member anyday!

Sorry to see that happen to such a nice ute...and after only owning it for 8 days :(

But as has been said, cars are infinitely more replaceable than people. I'm glad you came out of it OK.

Any chance with your insurance policy that you can recover just the engine, and put it into something else? If not, then that would be one write off worth buying back at auction...

Was the end of a great ute. Was my pride and Joy for 6 years. Spent a ridiculous amount of money on her and she'll always have a very special place in my heart.

So very happy that Chris is alright though. I was at the scene a few minutes after the accident. Freak for sure. Marks on the bridge support are telling of how hard it was and how much worse it could have been.

You are one lucky man! I can't believe you pretty much walked away from that - the impact must have been huge to rip out the rear end like that. Bad luck about the car, but great that you're here to tell the story. I hope that out of this wreck, the phoenix may rise and a new ute can be made!

it would be nice to get it back etc etc, but what im gonna hit them up for, i will definatley having them know exactly how much it would be to replace it. let alone the chance to find another straight ute like that as a doner, and the labour it would be to transplant all the goodies from one to the other...

that being said, and insurance companies being who they are, what i tell them its all worth, adn what i get for it are two totally seperate things.

it will more likely end up being a cash settlement + the wreck, as i cant see them giving me anywhere near what its worth. so i guess i will have a 347 + gearbox for the next project car, but with house plans in the making, i cant see that being too soon. but we will see, all depends on how things pan out over the next week or so as to what happens, ill be sure to keep you guys informed.

thansk for all the well wishes, but it really is testament to the safety of new cars. there was Alot of force in the impact, and both myself, and the other gentleman are fine.

lets just hope everything works out, i will keep everyone updated tho....

Most glad that you are ok. You could have been a "1" on the road toll! Thank God you are safe. Imagine the trauma to your loved ones if you had been taken out along with the ute?

I hope all goes well with the insurance claim, and the company may smile upon you a little, as you were doing the right thing.

You will get another great vehicle, that's at least something to look forward to.

All the best,

GK

*update*

guys the ute is now officially a write off, and from what the inspector has said, i will more then likey get cash plus the wreck back as they couldnt meet what i had originally asked for.

so if anyone is keen, they can have the whole car for $10 000.00

keep in mind the engine is still ok
c10 box is 50/50 chance..
front slotted discs
347 stroker, with all receipts
interior is still in great condition
the list goes on....

will have no front two rims ( i am keeping those, as they were a 21st present )
no stereo - already been claimed.

thanks all for your kind words also, much appreciated.
