Hi Guys, just thought i would pass on what i just witnessed tonight.
While going up the Tonkin hwy here in Perth, this young guy flew up behind and passed me, i was behind him as we waited for the right turn arrow, think he wanted to show me how "quick" his car was and "great" his driving skills are, when the lights changed he took off and started to fishtail left (i dropped back immediately and just watched) then it swung back to the right and went straight off the road and knocked over a 10 metre lamp post, the VL's front end is stowed right in, a couple of other cars and myself stopped to assist, thankfully the driver was ok. What is it with these people, ever since i've had the BA XR6 a lot of guys want to drag me (this is after they check to see if it's a turbo model) i guess because it has extractors and 2 1/2" system, but, i do have a good laugh sometimes especially when it's a late model SS ute, which i know i have snowball chance in hell of beating. |

lol although I'm a VL owner myself, that's just funny.
I guess the morons, just can't help themselves aye? I get them too, but they're usually in Swifts or Pulsars, so I just ignore them and carry on, what I was doing. |

At least he didn't collect your car in the process or hit any other passing car - i will use my favorite word - KARMA
Now-a-days most people with high powered cars don't race as they have nothing to proove and everything to loose.

Doesn't matter, he'll just take the sik mags and $3k Alpine system out and spend $100 on another VL.
Coincidence, I was outside TAFE week before last, out the front in the smoker's area having a snack around 8pm. I hear tyre squeal, turn to see a Subaru Liberty wagon sideways, then overcorrect towards me, and wipe out three parked cars no more than 10m in front of me. The Subaru T-bones a Camira, inertia kept the car going towards a new Prado, which nudged a PT Cruiser in front of it. Subaru also had P-plates, the two very young-looking guys had to answer to the owners of the damaged cars as well as the police. How they lost an AWD turbo in the wet I put down to stupidity. |

The amount of morons around TAFE is scary, I always take extra care when picking up my brother.

Would have been a Turbo only VL's i have seen get tail happy easy and loose control.
You don't need a hot car to get numb nuts to hoon around you, You just need wheels.

I had a nice VL but it was only used for family purposes. I got sick of people wanting to drag me and I got sick of getting pulled over for no friggin reason! I'm glad I am no longer a "Fully Sick" VL driver!

Sheeesh...The same thing used to happen to me when I had my old car. Had some spoliers on it and really looked the goods.
Now I just tease people. If someone looking keen to take me on at a set of lights, (particularly if their lane ends shortly after the intersection) I do a bit of creeping like I'm going to drag em and then when it goes green just roll away like a grandpa and watch as they take off at full tilt......yep you win.....d*ckhead. You can spot 'em coming and they fall for it regularly - P Platers, wanna be's, WRX drivers, SS Common-whore drivers etc. he he. Sound like the VL driver may have learnt a lesson about how even the best drivers in the world still have to obey the laws of physics! |

hmmm vl's are steriotypicalised by their drivers i think, and i just remembered why i never even considered a holden let alone a Vl lol.
i must admit i was tempted into a Vl battle the other week when siting at the lights and he decided to drop a few revs with his foot on the brake. i didnt think it was worth the risk and considering i spotted the cop car coming frmo the right i was glad i didnt drag him off the line,, he obviously missed the blue and red sirens until they were parked right up close behind him in the service lane. the vl stood no chance against me judging by its take off anyway.,, and frmo the result the cop car was faster too |

Not as good as the Ford driver I saw ages ago fish tail down the local street and take out a motor bike, problem was it was a police bike (he was not on it at the time)
I think people who make comments like Mafia really should find another forum to post on though

My previous haunt was a black VX SS, wheels, lowered, lots of mods. Used to sit rocking away at the lights, had a lovely grumble. Anyway, VERY rare anyone tried it on when I had that car in 4 yrs of driving. Since I've gotten the BA everybody is doing flybys and sitting up my ***. Work that out.

Yeah point taken, but, the pacemakers and k&n filter have given it a vast increase in performance and economy. (pacemaker actually quoted 27 kw jump on dyno tests..not sure how accurate that is but) |

I was recently in Perth and noticed around Rockingham that quite a few drivers like doing long burnouts on main roads. There is a real lack of police presence in Perth, especially the outer suburbs.
During my two weeks of going around WA I only saw two police cars! Yesterday back in Melbourne a white EA Ford came blasting out of Domino's car park in front of me as I approached, smoking its wheels and leaving a large black smear. I caught up with him at a red light and took a peak, some youngster who looked tough and mean. Earlier in the day I witnessed a white VN do a butnout U-turn at full throttle at a busy 4 way intersection with pedestrians waiting in the middle on an island. And even earlier I was overtaken by a motorcyclist who did a wheelie for about 100 feet and disappeared into the distance, then I caught up with him at the petrol station. Sunday drives aren't the same anymore. I am getting old...... whinge whinge.

I agree with petzke, stereotypes suck. My VL was a collectors item. Thats the only reason I kept it in good nic.
And instead of saying "Typical VL Moroan" How about instead you say "Typical driver without a clue and no commonsense"

Ha, someone wrote a VN off in Windsor lately. Silly so'n'so's were racing around a crescent lost control and slid into a big-**** truck.
Our car was the first emergency vehicle on the scene. Luckily for the guys in the car they were bloodied and carted away by ambulances, some residents were ready to knock some sense into the VN lads. Apparenlty they were hooning around on that street for some time and luckily they slamed it into a truck (which had barely any damaged besides the fact it was moved flush against the kerb and backwards by 15cms) and not into a house or kiddies playing by the side of the road. Driver was unlicensed and car unregistered. Even though it had a freshly fitted pod filter and new stereo, the performance mods didn't save them! Next time there are dip-s!hits hooning around the neighbourhood grab a vehicle description or rego, we'll gladly (time allowing) rock up and try and deal with the drop kicks.

Sunday driving is getting bad now, Right hand lane hogs @ 80kp/h zones doing 65kp/h, Only because they intend to turn right in about 3000 meters. Washed my car last night at a servo guy in a VL was next to me, As he left he decided to sit next to the boozers and do a stand still? ****er. Got a motor bike popping a wheelie infront of me @ 70kp/h if he came off he was dead. Anyone know the Airport West Shopping centre, When going home there is a very large roundabout you go around to get back onto the Western Ring road heading sunshine/St Albans way, Anyway the exit of the other freeway comes next to the on ramp once i was going around the roundabout and was starting to accelerate and this bike came flying over from the other side straight infront of me, Scared the ****en **** out of me, He got up and i stopped he looked very embarrassed about it and said I'm fine go go. I was thanking mate I'm 10min from home with a full set of jocks:P.

The past six months have seen some "friends of friends" smash their WRX, Nissan 240, a Nissan 180 and just the other week a neighbours' Nissan Skyline got smashed up. But it's a lot quieter around here at night since the new laws have come in, at least here in Melbourne's North-West.
