Something different.

Personally, not a fan. Model A roadsters should come with a V8.

That engine doesn't look all that tough in the bay. :( First car I fell in love with was a '28 model A.

Not a fan, but its different. The engine bay looks so empty. The 13B's only like 1.3 litres isnt it?

id drive it, imagine the feeling hitting 5 grand ...whooooaaaaa

for thoes of you who have never been in a ported rotor, id suggest you give it a go. also the noise is "almost " as good as a hot hot v8.

agreed. wouldn't be that fast even if it is a peripheral port. chuck a turbo on that engine though and you'd be just as fast a v8. there's no reason to knock an engine thats lighter, has less moving parts and is more efficient than a bigblock. power to weight is the key...

yes and no, the actual engine capacity is 1.3L but aguments are still around 30 years latter as to weather they are a 1.3, 2.6 or 3.9L due to the combustion cycle compared to a piston engine... cool little engine but to unreliable

I had a 13B PP in my RX3 coupe and they sound oh so sweet at 10,000.

IMO I don't think that's the right car to have it in though, but each to there own i guess.

There really is something wrong with this bloke , Abone's come with 8 cylinders unless restored , if it was quite and full bodied I "might" think differently but you cant better cubes so dump a 504 crate in it.

Ive driven one,had a big holley dp on it,all noise and bluster,a good 4 would beat it, as for a V8 theres no contest, rotors only start to come alive with a turbo, and even then only in 2200lb chicken coops.

They're horrendously inefficient thermodynamically. The fuel economy you get out of an RX8 is out of all proportion with the hp it makes.

wouldnt diss the rotorys, mate of mine just finished rebuilding his rx7.
13b turbo.
7 psi and the car has 195 kw atw
supposedly its capable of 40psi
so i suggest most of u retract ur comments about poo poo rotarys
as this car has already demolished an astin martin vanquish, numerous skylines and most probably would smash most cars on this forum, mine inclusive.
and yea the signature brap brap braaap noise would have to be one of my favourite engine noises ever, bellisimo
however i do think that this conversion into a hot rod is a bit strange
regards
Ben

I retract nothing.
Some are fast but people dont who back them dont seem to accept they are all in 800-100kg cars,
Do you know what the engine out of a late 10 sec falcon or Holden would do in a light body like that?
A car running 10.7 say at 129 mph in a 3600lb falcon,
would run like 9.5 at 144 mph in a light girls car... @ 2600lb

So what you are saying that it is power to weight ratio.

Pac performance will build you a 10 second engine for 10 grand. Thats not bad in anyones terms I'm sure.
