Default 14.4 second 1/4 mile with 120 rwkws.??

Guys, how can the BMW 330 CI COUPE do a 1/4 mile with 120 rwkws in 14.4 seconds?

This thing is a six cylinder...why cant a ford six match this thing ,even though they generally get to a biiger level of power?

In auto form they weigh 1600kgs?What is it that sets them apart ?

$$$$

Probably better aerodynamics/gearing/ ability to get power to the ground/more revs and more torque. Better trans and diff etc etc.

Also at the bottom:

Quote:
The dyno ratings for my stock car were measured at a local digital dyno shop ''Tuning World Oy'' in Veikkola, Finland on Fri 13th of June 2003. No modifications, about 28000km on the odometer, traction controls/lights/air conditioning turned off. The car seems to be a strong individual as it gave out readings of 176kW (240hp) @ 6188 RPM and 308Nm @ 3536 RPM .

I am sure ford could match it - better tuning, more technology, redesigned engine geometry, better drivetrain and suspension.... but how much do you want to pay for 6pak falcon?

I'd say it would be in the paramaters of the ECU, a touch more agressive and the Falcons could be ALOT faster

PFFFT bmw, i'm over them.
wheels:

330 ci coupe 1490kg 170kw/300tq 14.8 sec quarter $96,300 manual
330 ci coupe 1530kg 170kw/300tq 15.6 sec quarter $98,900 Auto

Motor:

330ci coupe 1490kg 170kw/300tq 0-100 in 6.64, 14.77 sec quarter $96,300 manual

Take 200 odd kg out of a falcon and spend another $60,000 on it and see how it goes!

There is no doubt our fords scrub up really well with a few mods but I suppose this is the difference between a 100,000 dollar car and 14,000 like mine. But with another 10,000 on the six and it will be renamed ..the flash!~!!!

I could make a 120Y go real fast with $60k in mods, that's not what BMW's models are about. No one has mentioned handling, nor quality, nor safety... the list goes on forever. The price we pay for these cars compared to the Germans is sky high but they are still somewhat justifiable for what they are.

This thread is about a stock 330 Ci doing 14.4sec down the 1/4
I say, no way it could.

The only car that could do those times in the 3 series is the M3

On a side note:
Even BMW have engine issues: http://members.roadfly.com/jason/m3engines.htm

I'd like to see that.
The best a E46 M3 would do is a flat 14 maybe a high 13.

I don't know what the current model M3 does, I am refering to the older M3. The same era as the 330 in the first post.

Look at the temp he raced it in, 0 degrees, the would easily shave a few tenths over racing at 25degrees+ temps that we are used to.
And he also didnt do it at a genuine 1/4mile track.
