BF ABS Noise

Hi everyone, I recently bought a new BF XR8, however when I drive off it makes a klunking noise (sounds like a stuffed uni joint). When I asked my dealer about this he said it was the ABS charging up and ALL BFs do it, does anyone else have an XR8 that does this ?

I know it's probably no consolation but my brother just received his brand spanking new $65k Turbo Territory and it does the same thing. He was advised that it was the ABS as well. Seems absolutely rediculous that the ABS would start making noises in the BF when there wasn't a peep in my AUII XR8 and all AU's/BA's alike. Something sounds suss to me.

My F6 does this dont worry. And every commodore I have driven from VR onwards has done this as well. Its normal.

Well that sux, its embarresing and for $60k the damn thing shouldn't make a sound.

You should hear the clunk when the car FIRST reaches 5km/h since it has been started. Once it has exceeded 5km/h you should never hear it again until the car has been shut down and restarted.

It's known as the ABS Self Test isnt it?

Well I beg to differ because I hired a BF XR6 a couple of weeks ago and there was no sound coming from the ABS on that car. Sounds like they may have changed ABS modules. Mmmmm, interesting.

My Turbo also does this and yes its "normal"....

yeap its completely normal. Its the self fire test once you reach 5kph or something like that.

I agree, on the higher end models its pretty stupid. They know about it, but its not changing for the time being.

Its a bit like the noise older BA's make when you use the windscreen jets, sound like its strangling a chicken!

My BF has done it from day 1 as well. It is amazing how quickly you will learn to drive around it. I actually have trouble making mine do this now. The ford dealer up here (Centralian Motors) have been very helpfull with this. We have unique conditions up here. Lots of high speed travel and lots of heat. Over heating diffs have occured often on the BA/BF range of cars. I have the diff oil changes very 5K. This seems to help.
