Default Door locking

Ok guys, went on a nice trip over some pretty rough roads over the weekend, and now my car wont lock. It seems that when I push the button, the lock goes down, crunch, crunch, crunch and then pops back up and beeps at me. If I lock the door manually, it goes crunch crunch crunch and stays down, so I can close the door, and the car is locked, except the front passengers door, which is the one doing the crunchy sound. So, what is it, why has it done it, and how do I fix it? I just dont want my car sitting out the front all the time, and not being able to lock it.

Yep, you need a new actuator for that door, probably around $60 ?

I had to do my drivers door a few weeks ago.

passenger door lock actuator, replace that and it'll be ok

How do you actually do it? Take off the door trim obviously, and the what?

Undo 3 phillips head screws, take off a few rods that go to the handle etc, swap it over and its done. EASY.

i think i got this same problem too. When i lock it with the remote all the doors lock except the drivers one. I have to manually lock the drivers one then it will stay locked.

would this be acctuator too?

Sounds weird, but lock your car with the remote, then open then drivers and keep it open while you unlock the car with the remote.

Then close the drivers door and lock the car with the remote.

if i lock the door then open the drivers one the alarm goes off.
ive got an aftermarket alarm system.

The replacement lock and actuator assembly from Ford has been superseeded to a BA part. You will need a wiring adaptor to make it fit, as they have changed the connector.
If you have a series one AU, you will have more problems too. The original actuator on series one's are a master type, and the replacements are a slave type actuator. There is a minor wiring modification to do at the BEM to get it all working OK with the new LHF actuator. Let me know if you need the info and I'll scan it and post it on here.

Josh, if you have trouble getting the part from Ford, I got mine from Ford Wreckers Australia down in Capalaba, they have some brand new stuff too and I got mine for $75. They might be able to help you, phone number is 3824-5999.

Wish I would have read this before I picked up my part. As has been said, it has been superseede by a BA part, so I had to get the loom as well, all up $143 at TRADE prices. Damn.
