John Holder (owner of Intune MS) is a passionate Ford V8 man, with a comprehensive wealth of knowledge on XR8s & GTs, and used to VERY competitively race a VERY quick XR8.

Some years ago I purchased a CAI off him, and found him a top bloke and extremely helpful - and at the best price !

Check him out here, getting 383 RW-KW from a brand new stock GT 335 with only a flash tune:

Hi,

John is very very good with his fords.

My cars are modded and tuned in his shop over many years, Ive had a BA XR8 and a few BA/BF XR6Ts in there.

I would leave my car there no issues as I know John will look after it. He is very reasonably priced, gets your car in and out very quickly and stands by his work.

Ive also referred other members to his shop and they have driven away happy.

I've read of a whole heap of bad experiences with Intune over on the XR6 Turbo forums...to the point that it's become known as "Pingtune"...I'd personally take my business elsewhere, not because I've had a bad experience with them myself, but because I'd rather learn from others mistakes and heed their warnings

In Sydney the go-to workshops are CMS or Autotech, many happy campers from both those workshops bud.

As ive said ive used John for many many years and never had an issue. Done all sorts of work from cams, to tunes to exhausts and supercharging. Modded my turbos.

For my fords, I would have no hesitation to recommend him, he is actually one of the safest tuners around.

Every workshop has had a story or two. The fact of the matter is that some people out there have roughie cars, they go to workshops thinking a tune fixes all problems, they dont tell the tuner the right story about their car and then expect miracles. They give very specific instructions usually ignoring the tuners advice and then winge when things go pair shaped.

Ive been to Johns workshop over many years, my cars are meticulously maintained, ive listened to his advice (not to push the car over x amount of power or boost etc), ive had no problems at all. Perfect.

Multiple cars, years of reliable driving, I have first hand experience with his shop, not heresay like many.

Never had a problem. 3 years since my GS was tuned.

My GS is still as strong as the day it was tuned.

Search is your friend, here and on the other Ford themed forums....make up your own mind. Shops will always have their detractors and fans, I don't know about others but i research widely for anyone I use and form up my own stats. You cannot go by the limited feedback you'll find in a thread such as this. I know shops which used to have a so-so rep that are now well accepted, and vice versa. Tuning is such a black art especially when you're trying to squeeze that last drop, and if you really love that car spend the time. Course if its general servicing and mechanical thats a different piece of scenery.

You live nowhere near the workshop (which is in western Sydney). Your comments have no basis.

Agreed with Hulk (!!!!). If you havent used his services, dont comment! Sometimes its better to accept that you dont have an opinion than make one up to get your post count up.

I use Intune for my Track XR8 and havent had any issues. 267rwkw NA for my XR8 which isnt much, but the motor is 195,000 kms old and I've had no issues with it. He's done all the work over the last 8 years on the car. Cant fault any of his work.

John knows his stuff and is very good. Cant recommend him highly enough. He will be doing any work I choose for the GTF.

Careful what you read on the internet. You never know what some muppets do to their cars and always like to blame someone else for issues. Not uncommon to get people go to 2/3 different tuners or try doing work themselves then blaming the tuner!

A car tuned for 98, but E10 was used, whilst the car was being driven... spiritedly..

I’m sorry but for you to be calling out another as a troll doesn’t sit well with me, here you are trying to tell someone that they have poor form and should not comment on a subject only from hearsay where for year’s that is all you have done with regard’s to comparison such as what you have read in a magazine !!!!!

You have been so vocal about the windsor and the T3 brigade against’s the LS1 and all your information has come from hearsay.

May I suggest you should read your own comment and take your own advice Mr Pot/Kettle.

Running E10 which is generally circa 95 octane in a car tuned for 98 will not cause an engine to grenade itself, unless of course the car was tuned too aggressively.

To quote Daniel/Cat600

People can blame E10 (and ergo any Ethanol fuels) all they want but the ONLY problem with Ethanol based fuels is the ignorant people that use it without doing any research.

Lazy people that dont do their research = deserving fools.

As far as this car is concerned, if it wasnt setup properly with the right tune and the right supporting mods then any fuel could have cause a failure.

91
E10
95
98
P100
Ethanol

Any of them.

E10 has multiple octane ratings, P100 is E10 so a little more clarity should be mentioned when referring to E10

regarding E10, i think most tunes for 98 would cause bad things if you ran E10 in them. the octane is down 3 points but also the fuel density is down (ethanol requires more fuel) so you could be leaning out there also.

I know i had a 98 tune from one of the top tuners in AUs and had to run it on e10 for a little bit (caught out in the country) and it pinged like hell.

I know some one that used intune for their BF xr8 and is very happy. There were issues back in the day with some xr6 turbo guys and i guess people have long memories.

Rule number one regardless of tuner or anything else - never get a generic tune - ever!!!!

All shops have their fan boys and their detractors.
Best off talking to people yourself and getting the general vibe from their shop and them.
From many years of experience of dealing with workshops if they start offering you the world straight up , they most likely wont even give you Tasmania.
If something seems to good to be true it generally is.
Ive had most success with guys who will have a chat to you and answer your questions straight up be it what you want to hear or not.
The biggest piece of advice is don't go in talking crap. People that know pick up on this straight away and will either fob you off or you will end up on a path that isn't where you want to be.

You can get United P100 E10 which is 10% ethanol and 98 octane mixed netting 100 octane...no one fuel is called e10 that's merely the ethanol content.
