ouch, that last guy hit his head on the windscreen. They're sneaky though, who looks AT the road when they're driving along, if i saw a car or bus drive over a bit of road without swerving or whatever i wouldnt think twice...

except for that frist girl, the other two aren't that stupid i dont think.

i think the council should be sued massively for a horrible implementation.

Those poles (bolars?) can stock a semi-trailer cold ive seen it in test vids.

Yeah the people were stupid for trying to take shortcuts by driving through bus lanes but as shown there, its pretty easy to not realise that those bollards are there and then get really farked over when you come to sudden stop from what looked like 60kmh with no crumple zone effect whatsoever.

That last one with the baby is a worst case scenario and id be bloodthirsty if i was the father. Hope they got a few mill out of that one.

I agree, I felt bad for the dude and his kids in the fourbie. Obviously these people did not know what would happen or they wouldnt have done it. I doubt that chic would have gone through if she knew they would come straight back up again. Theres other ways to stop people driving through, such as boom gates, atleast you would know when they were coming back down. Instead of possibly seriously injuring someone.

Have these things been around for a long time, or is it something newly implemented ? Either these people weren't aware of it or they are just stupid. Meh..

Don't tailgate and blindingly follow lead vehicles like sheep.

Bollards such as these are increasingly used around buildings as anti-terror measure.

All in all I like em, but they do leave the road owner open to litigation.

I wonder how you activate them to go down then, it looks much like the magnets under the roadway for traffic lights. If you they stopped on the pads long enough they'd probably go down anyway.

Other than the fact that the first lady saw them and stopped, the second car sped up to get in with the bus. Plus the fact that they show TWO giant red LED signs warning about them....

Yeah true its likely that they knew they were there, i just think the potential for a serious injury is too great for them to be used.

They would sure kick *** in Iraq or somewhere, love to see a suicide run through a field of bollards, but for the average dumbass driving through the city, i just dont think they deserve to be smashed up like that esp considering theres a good chance other passengers and kids will be in the car.

I wonder how the insurance company would approach this incident?

Course they knew they were there, they sped up and tried to beat the rails every time. as another has mentioned i would sit across the road with a cold drink and watch em all try to get through....

Geeze some of those cars must have had the guts ripped out of the underside, specially the black 4 wheel drive......

I dont feel sorry for em..... next time follow the road rules and dont use specialised lanes that ur not meant to for a short cut (which i would assume was the case here)

Most likely with an active RFID tag otherwise they would be useless. Most people use these bollards for their quick throughput and their high duty cycles. I've installed control gear to quite a few now - they are a pretty cool piece of gear to watch in action but present a real hazzard in high traffic and pedestrian areas.

I like the way the first bus started driving off while his passenger was still getting off. Must be an ex State Transit driver.

He knew they were there, as he clearly gunned it after the bus went through, just like someone posted he "chanced it" and it went against him.
