Default Some new mods

I thought I might post up some pics of a few mods undertaken

The first been black stripes

The car previously had blue stripes however I felt it made the car look a bit soft so i changed over to old predictable black.

Instead of buying a christmas tree this year I decided I would make my car into a portable tree, that way I can turn up to those places that have the christmas light competitions and take first prize

Tomorrow the car goes into hospital for 2 weeks to put all this:

Into here:

I just hope the turbo was worth all the $$$

Thanks mate the turbo set me back 3k for all the main stuff e.g. intercooler, manifold, turbo, bov, plumbing and the majority of it. A bit of the cost came here from freight which was expensive. Then I got wolf, injectors, fuel pump, stall converter and other bits and pieces came to around 2k. Then extras like boost gauge, turbo timer and that came to a few hundred $$$. Some of the stuff i replaced so I have a few spares sitting around. Its going to cost around 2-3k to install which is expensive but it includes heaps of stuff like battery relocation, new joiners, new inclosed battery plus heaps of stuff. It was going to be one of those $3000 installs with no ecu mods and a rising fuel rate regulator... but the more I read the more that became a bad idea.

Hey Duffman, or anyone else, I am wondering where you got the stripes from. I'm trying to find somewhere in BrisVegas to "stripe" my AUIII XR6 (not going that type of stripe, thinking about a bonnet only job). Not 100% sure what to do yet, hopeless on the computer so can't do any playing with ideas.

Though I might post an update. Its been 2 1/2 weeks now and car hasnt returned yet. There has been issues with generally fitting it all in but its all in now. The fog lights have had to leave to make room for intercooler piping but looks much better with chrome pipes behind there. The car went on the dyno today and made 160rwkw on 1-2psi which was flucating due to the waste gate. The plan is for 5-6 psi. Hopefully if all goes well it will come back tomorrow, only issue is I have a work party so will probably not be in a 'driving' state tomorrow.

Will post some pics soon hopefully. The front looks alot better with an intercooler behind there now!

This is kinda relevant to this thread... from the comic stylings of damoh, resident #eseries hobo...

[20:58] <damoh> The car went on the dyno today and made 160rwkw on 1-2psi which was flucating due to the waste gate.
[21:00] <Axedan> was the wastegate stuck open?

Hahaha. I forgot about the sig, Iv got all sigs/pictures turned off when i view the forums

It was actually a waste gate issue not sure what it is but hopefully its all fixed tomorrow. I reckon 160rwkw sounds high for 2 psi! But I guess it must be right? as its only a 45kw increase.

Have you got them to tune your "dose pipe" to play Jingle Bells to compliment your red and green interior lights? Would definately add to the theme...

Looks choice... I'm interested in where you ended up getting all the turbo gear from... I just got a work car, so its now possible to take the car off the road for a few months... Who's doing the install/tuning for you?

Well the car is all done and now driving. it turned out to be a manifold issue something about it pulling away from the head or something but has been fixed. Also turns out the guy here who sold the turbo to me forgot to mention it was rooted. Overall the car is surpose to drive great but the turbo unit itself is very sick. They are ordering in a nice new ball bearing unit one (there goes $2200) the new unit alone is costing more then the kit. Overall I wouldn't recommend doing it with a second hand kit it was more trouble then anything. Eitherway its all done and the fun begins tomorrow night

If I have learnt one thing from this its never buy second hand equipment. Its all on now but only making 160rwkw due to the very sick turbo. It made a fair bit more power but has been de-tuned to make it last until a replacement has been fitted. There are a few other little tiny issues that have come up but thats to be expected from such a big change and will get sorted out. Oh and fuel economy is completely gone. Iv done 190km and used half a tank already.

Looks impressive, and 160 is nothing to sneeze at considering it's from a dodgy turbo. What are you expecting with the new turbo? 200rwkw+?

there has to be an issue somewhere to get that BAD fuel economy??
maybe you used 1/2 tank in 160km because your foot was buryed in the carpet for most of it?

Well it turns out the turbo is dead. When I was driving last night it I felt like it had lost alot of power. Its dropping oil out of it which is leaking out of the pod filter and into the intercooler. It has to go back now and have the intercooler taken out and washed and the entire unit needs to be removed and the manifold will need to be changed to fit a new turbo. Oh so much fun
